A Sellbot Field Office is a special variation of a Cog Building owned by the Sellbots that brings the luxuries of a Cog headquarters onto the streets of Toontown. Unlike ordinary Cog Buildings, a Sellbot Field Office takes over the local Toon Headquarters of a street. When that Toon Headquarters is captured, it captures that Toon Headquarters in all districts of Toontown. To take a Sellbot Field Office down, multiple groups of Toons are each transported to an annex, a single wing of the entire building that acts as a health point. Each annex must be taken down for the Sellbot Field Office to be conquered.

Gameplay

Battle mechanics

A Sellbot Field Office is so devoid of silliness that certain gags become ineffective and can only be recovered if Toons make their way through the Cog minigames and collect enough jokes. Once Toons enter the building, they start off with either Throw or Squirt and one additional gag track. Due to the lack of gag tracks, Toons are expected to devise new gag strategies, but boss rewards such as SOS cards and pink slips can still be used to assist in battle.

Cold Caller Office

Toons need to skate through the Cold Callers' icy office to turn up the thermostats. Cold Callers will fight back by attempting to turn the thermostats back down. In order to recover other gag tracks, Toons must collect jokes from filing cabinets around the office. It is important to note that filing cabinets not only drop jokes but also have a rare chance of dropping a wrench. A wrench allows the Toon to interact with a thermostat and disable it, therefore preventing any Cold Caller from turning the temperature back up on that thermostat. Any Toon with a wrench above their head signifies their possession of one. Before continuing onto the next floor, Toons must ensure that the room is defrosted by keeping the temperature up with the thermostats, therefore unfreezing the exit. Toons have a total of 240 seconds to heat up the room and make it to the exit; if the objective is not completed in time, they will go sad.

Mover & Shaker Office

Toons need to grab water balloons from water coolers scattered across the maze office to defeat the four Mega Movers which are large Mover & Shakers. To once again recover other gag tracks, Toons must collect more jokes by defeating Glad Handers and Name Droppers with water balloons. Toons should stay clear of being hit by any of the Cogs and falling filing cabinets to prevent from losing a water balloon as they wander through the room. The number of hits to defeat each Cog varies depending on the difficulty of the Sellbot Field Office; the Mega Movers require multiple hits and smaller Cogs may require more than one hit. Toons have a total of 240 seconds to defeat the Mega Movers and make it to the exit; if the objective is not completed in time, they will go sad.

Boiler room

The boiler room of high-pressure sales is where Toons face four Cogs and the boss of the Sellbot Field Office. More Cogs will continue to spawn periodically on each side until the boss is defeated. The boss possesses unique attributes such as the ability to unlure, heal, and promote the Cogs at any given moment. Because of how tedious the battle may be, it is essential that Toons collect enough jokes so that they can earn back all of their gag tracks.

Trivia

  • Field Offices from Toontown Online were originally referred to in development as "Cog-dominiums".
  • Sellbot Field Offices in Toontown Online worked differently. They occasionally spawned whenever a Mover & Shaker took over a Toon Building, and originally only featured their office and the executive suite room. After "Operation: Storm Sellbot" and subsequent Sellbot Mega-Invasions, Mover & Shakers were awarded their own office for stealing Toons' jokes.
  • Based on several concept artworks and mentions of the game's code, Toontown Online had plans for a Cashbot, Lawbot, and Bossbot Field Office, but only the Sellbot variation was released.
    • In the code for Toontown Online, as well as in the phase files, the Lawbot Field Office was almost completely finished, being awarded to the Legal Eagles, with the reward being unknown. However, it was never released in the game.
    • For the Cashbot Field Office, the code mentioned that Toons would have to use cranes to defeat Money Bags carrying coins to prevent them from stealing laff barrels. Because of this, it is believed that Cashbot Field Offices were going to be awarded to the Money Bags. Furthermore, artwork for what the room could have looked like is available.[1]
    • For the Bossbot Field Office, there is not much information. The code mentioned that Toons would crash a meeting and obtain destruction memos to save laff barrels. Furthermore, a rare screenshot shows a Toon golfing in what could have been an early version of the Bossbot Field Office.[2] It is unknown what Cog would have run this Field Office.
  • According to the Chairman's memo, Mover & Shakers would be awarded their own "quality office" because of their significant performance in Doomsday. As plans to completely recreate Sellbot Field Offices were not yet realized at the time of when the memo was revealed in 2014, it is possible that the storyline may have also changed since then.
  • Part of the exterior design for the Sellbot Field Office was inspired by the Field Office from the discontinued Toontown 2.0 prototype.[3]
  • The Cold Caller Office minigame was inspired by a single piece of Toontown Online concept artwork that depicts an icy office for Cold Callers.[4]
  • New information revolving around Sellbot Field Offices was revealed during the main panel of ReplayFX 2018, explaining how they work.[5] Attendees could access Toontown Rewritten's internal developer server to test out gameplay.
    • More information was revealed during the main panel of ReplayFX 2019, introducing other portions of the Sellbot Field Office expansion such as the Resistance Hideout and the Cog Remote Control, both of which had been in the conceptual stages at the time.[6] Completed props and GUI elements for the Cold Caller Office were also revealed, followed by a prototype runthrough of the minigame during the following Q&A panel.[7]
      • Subsequent backstage blog posts were posted on the Toontown Rewritten website from August 19th to August 23rd in 2019, covering every aspect of Sellbot Field Offices with the exception of the boss battle.[8]
  • The Toontown Rewritten Team held the first of their series of development livestreams called ToonCasts on January 31, 2020 to showcase further progress on Sellbot Field Offices.[9]
  • The Toontown Rewritten Team held their second ToonCast on June 8, 2020. Although the ToonCast did not go into depth on Sellbot Field Offices, a teaser was shown about them. During this teaser, there were various clips showing the exterior and interior of Sellbot Field Offices.[10]
    • A few different clips showed the Mover & Shaker Office with a couple noticeable changes: Cold Callers were replaced by Glad Handers to roam the office, and Lord Lowden Clear was replaced by Loopy Loopenloop in the introduction GUI.

Cogdominiums start at a whopping 500,000 Cogbucks per week. So yes, the housing market is rough for the Cogs. There's a reason they work nearly 24/7!
