Even MORE New Year's Top Toons!

Posted by Toon HQ on January 23, 2018 at 2:40 PM

ATTENTION ALL TOONS: We've made a mistake! Because of an error in our Super-Duper Sorting mechanism, several Toons were left off of the Top Toon's Marathon list of winners. We recounted and re-checked the list to ensure absolute accuracy, and listed the new set of winners below.

HQ Harry shrugs in Toon HQ while recounting the New Year's Top Toons Contest winners.

If you were previously not listed on the Top Toons list but think you should have been, check again! Your name may have been added to our new set of winners. If you're on this new list, you should have already received the shirt in your mailbox.
If you were listed previously but don't see your name now, it's likely because you were accidentally listed as a winner on the previous list due to the error which left some Toons out. Don't worry, though, we'll let you keep the shirt! (Taking it away would be cruel as a Cog.)
This portion of the page could be expanded upon with further information. Use the edit tool to help out.

Attention, Loony Labs Scientoons and Assillyates: After a period of maintenance, is now back online. You can use this website to access your personal terminal anywhere outside of the facility.

A terminal inside Loony Labs displays with Doctor Surlee's terminal entered.

We’ve had our top teams (besides S.I.L.L.I. -- they're far too busy) working on resetting the rambunctious registers and programming the pernicious processors. All terminal IDs will be found intact, and everything appears to be operational as of now.
If you aren't a Loony Labs employee, feel free to fold this message up and turn it into a paper airplane! Creativity is key to "sillyness", they say.
Remember, this message has absolutely no significance to those outside of Loony Labs and I am absolutely not using reverse-psychology on you. I'm a scientist, not a politician. Enjoy your day -- January 25th -- the day before the 26th, mind you!
-- Doctor Surlee, Director of Loony Labs

I hope they know what they're getting themselves into.
They do. Some of them, anyway.
This has been a long time coming...
And yet not even we are prepared for what lies ahead.
Speak for yourself!
I did speak for myself.
Hmm. I suppose you did.
By the way, you'll need these.
You can thank us later.
Good luck.

Cracking the Case of Loony Labs

Posted by Samantha Spade on February 1, 2018 at 12:00 PM

Spade. Samantha Spade. Private Investigator. Tired of talking in short sentences, but it's part of the job. I've been a flatfoot since the day a Number Cruncher stepped on my toes -- yowch! Since then, I've made it my mission to use my keen detective skills to defeat the Cogs. Plus, I look pretty good in a trenchcoat. But this case is no Cog conundrum. No, this case was as Toony as a Saturday morning television program.

Cracking The Case of Loony Labs. Samantha Spade with a magnifying glass.

It all started January 25th. A message from Doctor Surlee notifying Loony Labs employees that their network is back online. But why? What prompted this announcement to be made through the Toontown Blog? A seemingly random announcement -- with disastrous consequences.
The next day, I get a knock on my door. It's a Toontown Times journalist -- they're always coming for a story. "I've got nothing for ya, ace," I say to them. But it turns out they're not coming to me for a story -- they're coming with one.
It's January 26th, and a strange message has popped up on the Toontown Blog. No doubts that the whole town has seen it by now. To a layman, it means nothing. To a sleuth like myself, it's got the most exciting information since Root 66 Diner started serving breakfast all day. Let's get this case crackin'.
The Big Buildup
This case has been years in the making. It all started a little over four years ago when a cryptic message showed up on the Toontown Blog on the 26th of November. For years, the puzzle continued. Strange ciphered texts showing up on rare occasion, but always on the 26th.

Blueprints scattered on Samantha Spade's desk. The Silly Meter and The Rewritten Device are visible.

Toons who took notice began piecing together that these messages always seemed to revolve around Loony Labs, and more specifically -- Doctor Surlee. Each of these messages led to blueprints of various inventions in Toontown, and finally, pages from the diary of Doctor Surlee himself.
Something about these pages seemed strange, though. They talk of Cogs as an invention, and mention years that have not yet passed. Finally, they credit the inventions of Doctor Surlee to a different Toon named Gyro Gearloose. This made me question: What if Doctor Surlee is Gyro Gearloose?
A Slice of C.A.K.E.
Now that we know the background, we're ready to solve the case. I asked myself: Why do these mysteries occur on the 26th? Who REALLY is Doctor Surlee? and What's the deal with this incoming transmission from Loony Labs?
One thing was clear: Doctor Surlee had a plan. He knows of the 26th mysteries, and wanted it to happen again. That's why he made a blog post on January 25th, the day before the transmission appeared. It seems that the clever Doctor, like us, wanted to get to the bottom of the mystery once and for all.
Toons from far and wide put on their detective hats and began to investigate once the transmission hit. Top cipher solvers in the community found morse code and radio frequencies in the background of the video. What they found inside, you wouldn't believe: The password to Terminal 26 on
With a few commands and a bit of digging, it was quickly uncovered that the terminal belonged to a Doctor Fissionton. This Fissionton, however, has never been seen! According to Loony Labs records, he resigned many years ago. What was Fissionton's computer doing with this message? How did it play into the mystery of the 26th?
Toons dug further and found a number of Research Reports, written by Doctor Fissionton. These Research Reports were filed by the C.A.K.E. Team (Categorizing All Known Energy) of Loony Labs, which left one mystery solved: The occurrence of all of those cakes in the transmission!
Still, however, the reports didn't add up. They mentioned dates that hadn't passed. Events that hadn't happened. I got the inside scoop with Professor Purrview, the author of the final research report, who had this to say:
"I've seen many strange things here at Loony Labs, but perhaps the strangest one yet is a report that I didn't write! I have no memory of writing it, but I do know the name Fissionton. Apparently we were supposed to work together, but he turned in his resignation before research even began. It's a shame."
The Research Report evidence can be read below.
  1. Investigating the Portability Design
  2. Newly Discovered Particles
  3. The S.I.L.L.I. Team
  4. Categorizing Continues
  5. Final Report
The find was huge, but not huge enough. There was more to the caper left to be uncovered.
The Rewritten Experiment
The final Research Report gave us another password. This time, one to a folder on the terminal that peaked my interest more than the daily crossword of The Toontown Times. A folder called "26." The insightful investigators of Toontown found a file inside covered in codes -- codes that translated to specific words of specific blog posts. They knew they weren't going to be able to solve this alone.
Toons from Hither'n'yawn to Timbuktoon came together to crack the code. Just look at this document! Toons everywhere, trying to track down the words. It was only a matter of time until we'd have the secret messages revealed.

A document shows the community collaborating to solve the 26th. Photos show Doctor Surlee working on The Rewritten Experiment.

What we found beneath the veil of code was something we couldn't believe...
Doctor Fissionton was a Loony Labs scientist skeptical of Doctor Surlee. He uncovered plans for all of the blueprints above, but the biggest find was "The Rewritten Experiment." It described an experiment by Doctor Surlee to take Toontown back in time in order to defeat the Cogs. A plan to rewrite Toontown using a pocket watch. Have you ever seen such a device before?
The watch in the state Doctor Fissionton found it, however, was unstable. It malfunctioned and ripped him away from time itself! However, the watch unveiled the true nature of the 26th: an anomaly caused by Doctor Surlee's time travel, starting on October 26th, 1998: The day he traveled back to. The past can't be perfectly replicated, which resulted in Doctor Fissionton finding a "Rewritten" version of himself. A cat instead of a dog.
The full scoop is in the documents below.
  1. The Desk of Gyro Gearloose
  2. The Rewritten Experiment
  3. A Pocket Watch
One thing is certain: This is no ordinary investigation!
The Fissiontons' Puzzle
Upon entering a final password to an alarmingly titled folder called "The Final Plan", our puzzle-piecing Toons were met with something no one expected. The Fissiontons -- formally rumored amongst sleuths as "The Two," and titled in their blog post appearances as "???" -- began speaking directly to them.
The Fissiontons told us about the reason why Doctor Surlee did all of this: To save Toontown. We live, apparently, in a "Toontown Rewritten." A version of Toontown that has been taken back in time in order to save us. Surlee Gyro Gearloose (his full name, as The Fissiontons revealed) had even rewritten himself into a monkey, to avoid anyone from discovering that he accidentally created the Cogs.
Their full message is put below. At the end of the conversation, The Fissiontons left us one final puzzle. I stared at it in astonishment, knowing it was the biggest puzzle yet.
Message from Doctor Fissionton
This puzzle was big. As big as a puzzle truck heading for the toy store. The Toons were on the case, and immediately started collaborating to put the last piece of this caper together!

Puzzle pieces are laid out on a desk, showing glimpses of Doctor Fissionton.

At long last, the puzzle was completed. It revealed a glimpse of what the future has in store. "The Final Plan" seems to involve some sort of meter, and a strategy to save Toontown from complete Cog chaos. Doctor Surlee and the Fissiontons need our help!

The Fissiontons say: 'Far more is at stake than the Silly Meter. Tell Doctor Surlee 'Good luck!' for us.'

I returned to my office, resting at ease knowing that we'd cracked the case of Loony Labs. Unfortunately, it seems this puzzle has only just begun. We know what Doctor Surlee's been up to, who Doctor Fissionton is, and what's been causing these mysteries of the 26th. Now, it's time to end the 26th once and for all.
This case wouldn't have been cracked without the expert detectives in the Toontown community, who worked tirelessly to get it solved. If you're a caper-crazed detective like them, be on the look out for the next puzzle. You'll know it when you see it.
Until then, it's time to move on to my next case: Return of the Cookie Jar Culprit. My tip for solving mysteries? Get a clue!

Fly Safe With Account Safety

Posted by Flapjack on February 9, 2018 at 2:00 PM

Hi - long time no see. Perhaps some of you remember me: Flapjack! One of the Toon Troopers of Toontown, and the officially appointed Safety Officer of the town. Did I tell you that my middle name is actually "Account Safety"? I think it's French. Yep, Flapjack "Account Safety" Thunderscreech!

Flapjack teaches a lesson about how to 'Fly Safe With Account Safety.'

Last time I stopped by, I taught you how to keep your account S.A.F.E. here in Toontown. Since then, I've spent my time traveling all around the Tooniverse to learn about the wonders of safety around the world.
I visited landmarks such as the Perfectly Sturdy Tower of Pisa (It's the short one next to that dangerous leaning tower) and the world's largest traffic cone (also known as the Eiffel Tower), but what taught me most was the most famous safety landmark of all: Airports.
You heard me right! I mean, who gives better lessons about safety than flight attendants? I've taken the lessons I've learned in the sky and brought them back here to Toontown. Listen closely, as it may just come in handy one day!

Locked Computer Icon

Please keep your arms, legs, and Toons inside your own account...
If you keep your arms and legs inside your own account rather than mucked up with someone else's, you won’t risk losing it. As appealing as it may be, sharing your account with the chair kicker in seat 4B isn’t the best idea in the world -- even if they're a close friend.
Remember, Toontown is 100% free! You can register as many accounts as your little heart desires, so, why not have your own account instead of running the risk of sharing one?

Safe Icon

Make sure all information is safely stored in the overhead bin...
Make sure to remember your username and password, and keep it to yourself! While you can always reset your username and password on the login page, it’ll be much harder for the Toon Council to help you restore your account if you forget your email as well.
If you use your primary email for Toontown, it should be much easier to remember! You could also save a little note on your desktop of your account email, or write it down on a piece of paper to put in a safe place. If you ever get locked out of your account and don't know what to do, just click the big "Help" button on the website!

Fastened Email Icon

At this time, please put your seat back and fasten your email..
Email security is just as important as security for your account! ToonGuard utilizes your email, and so do password changes. Since Toontown doesn't collect your real name, your email acts like your identity. If your email isn’t secured, that may be a gateway for someone else to get into your account. (That’s not good.)
Check out your email provider's additional safety options and try enabling them. Options like security questions, phone verification, and Two-Factor Authentication are all tools that most email providers have to keep your account safe.

Two-Step Login Icon

Turn on your cell phones and other security devices...
You heard me right! Toontown has several extra security features available to you. If you enable these extra security options, it may be a little bit of a hassle, but you’ll certainly keep Mr. 4B away.
ToonGuard, which is enabled for all accounts by default, checks to see if you're logging in from your normal location. If you’re outside of your primary location (Like the airport bathroom - I’m looking at you 4B), it will verify that it’s you by sending a special code to your email address. You can also review your verified ToonGuard locations, and disable certain locations if you don't recognize them!

Two Toads in Love

Posted by Lil Oldman on February 14, 2018 at 6:30 PM

Ah, ValenToon’s Day. A day to celebrate love between two Toons. Feh, who needs it! If there’s one thing my talking toads have taught me, it's that you don’t need a specific day for love. I even find myself in love on most days of the week, which comes from the satisfaction of knowing how many Cog Buildings have been destroyed by my apprentices.

Lil Oldman stands grudgingly at a ValenToons Day party.

Some Toons may celebrate ValenToons day with exclusive party decorations or limited-time Cattlelog items. I even hear that the treats in playgrounds are blossoming in the shape of hearts. As for me? Well, I think that I’ll be finding some more matches for toads.
Amid the festivities and hearts, one would expect the Sellbots to invade. They love consumerist holidays more than I love caviar, yet we remain invasionless. After the Doctor Surlee debacle, there is sure to be much talk in the realm of Cog Nation. I fear that the Cogs are cooking up something stronger on the horizon. What this may be? I do not know.
Now, which toad was I talking to again? I can't remember! I think it's because I'm so hungry. No need for boxes of chocolates -- would you mind bringing me back a lumpy cheese instead? It'll only take a minute...

Happy ValenToons Day from Toontown!

Reanimating the Tooniverse | Backstage Toontown

Posted by The Toontown Team on February 20, 2018 at 2:00 PM

Hey there, and welcome to the latest edition of Toontown's Backstage column, where we get a look at everything that goes on behind-the-scenes here on the Toontown Team. Today, we're going to take a look at our new pipeline for Toon animation.
My name is Andrew (but you can call me Ziggy), and I've been a 3D Artist and Technical Artist for Toontown Rewritten since 2014. My job is to bridge the gap between art and programming. Heads up: This post may be more technical than our typical Backstage columns.

Reanimating the Tooniverse

The Character Rig Rigmarole
A couple years ago, we started working on a project that’d give animators the wonderful ability to create new Toon animation for Toontown Rewritten. What made this an even bigger challenge, however, is that we needed it to work with the existing animation as well! We called this project: Toontown Rerigged!
This original pipeline update, which you can read about in my previous Backstage post, was achieved by setting the Toon’s character rig to function exactly as Toontown Online’s would have.

Riggy Marole's character rig with an animation example.

"What’s a character rig?" Good question! It’s kind of like a puppet. A puppet's strings allow the puppeteer to control its movement. Similarly, a character rig gives animators to control a character's movement. As Toons come in many shapes and sizes, we built six of these character rigs to cover our bases. Seven, if you include our ToonFest mascot, Riggy Marole.
Speaking of which, have you spotted Riggy Marole recently? Congratulations! You caught a glimpse of what Toontown Rerigged could do for you. (Boy, the strings that we gave him!)
However, as we continued to research Toontown Online's character rig and animation, an assortment of problems gradually unveiled themselves to us. These rigs had many underlying issues that we didn't quite anticipate. Issues that limited the true potential of our fellow Toons like you or I.

Various notes displaying broken features of the Toontown Online rig.

Starting from Scratch
To trace the source of these problems, we needed to take a look at the game's history. Back in 2010, the Toontown Online team was in the process of transitioning their character rigs from the now defunct Softimage to a more updated piece of software called Autodesk Maya.

An example of a broken animation in a Cog Battle.

From our analysis, the goal seemed not too different from ours: They wanted to allow their artists to add to and polish their decade old library of 1,000+ animation files. Unfortunately, their ambitious goals were cut short, and we are left with an incomplete remnant of what may have been.

With this in mind, we have rebuilt our entire Rerigged pipeline from scratch in order to fulfill the Toontown Online team's original task. The new bodies are heavily based on the pre-2010 versions, as well as taking advantage of changes made post-2010. We wanted to use the added knowledge our team has gained to produce the most faithful representation and best quality animation we can deliver, continuing the vision that the Toontown Online team had over 8 years ago.

With this in mind, we have rebuilt our entire Rerigged pipeline from scratch in order to fulfill the Toontown Online team's original task. To fix the problems with Toontown Online's character rigs and animation, we decided that it was best to revamp the whole thing. This meant building new character rigs, transfer every existing animation currently available, and polishing them up. That was a monumental task! We knew, however, that the end result would be worth it.
With all this effort being put into redoing things, the project needed a new name! And thus, we called the new project... Toontown Re-Rerigged! (Or, for simplicity's sake, Rerigged 2.0.)

A comparison between the old Toontown Online character rig and new Toontown Rewritten character rig.

Our Make-a-Toon Tool
Let’s be honest: We would much rather be working on the more creative elements of the game, rather than spending all of our time creating new character rigs for every Toon in Toontown and manually transferring their old animation. To solve that dilemma, we built a custom tool that does all of the hard work for us!
View tweet here
This tool is designed to make Toon character rigging quick and painless. This allows our team to go straight into the animation process, rather than spending heaps of time manually creating the same character rig for every type of Toon.

A Toon doing a hula dance with rig controls.

The new character rigs also feature some new quality-of-life improvements over our previous ones. For instance, hands are easier than ever to move fluidly, which saves our animators a lot of headache and makes for more natural movement. Animating a hula dance? We gotcha covered with automatic skirt and shadow controls!
We also built tools that worked through the 1,000+ existing animation files and applied them onto our new character rigs. Now, just as the Toontown Online team attempted all those years ago, we can improve upon a decades worth of existing animation. We're already getting started on making use of the technology, and you'll be sure to see it on display with our upcoming content for 2018.
Putting It Into Practice

Using the Toon rig controls to wave 'Goodbye!'

I hope that you're as excited as I am to see Toons come to life in new ways! These character rigs will be hitting Toontown soon, which will fix some of the broken animation we've shown you in this post. Keep your eyes peeled for other ways we'll be making use of these character rigs in future updates. If you spot a Toon animation that isn’t quite goofy, extraordinary silly, or (worst of all!) can’t make you laugh -- let us know so we can make it better.

If you found this post interesting and would like to contribute to our quest to Reanimate the Tooniverse, check out our Application Page with the new Character Rigger application! With your help, we can bring life to the wacky world of Toontown as it was meant to be.

Doctor Fissionton's Bug Bash

Posted by The Fissiontons on February 26, 2018 at 2:30 PM

Hello again, Toontown! I'm sure you don't recognize us without three question marks in lieu of a name. Allow me to introduce ourselves: The name's Doctor Fissionton -- joined by my associate, Doctor Fissionton. Perhaps you saw us in the news last month.
They do realize that we're two Toons, don't they?
That's only a matter of how you look at it. I'd say we're the same Toon.
Now you're just going to confuse them!

Doctor Fissionton saying 'Welcome to the first step. We'll be in touch.'

As a Toon scientist, I discovered the existence of Silly Particles with the assistance of the C.A.K.E. Team. That was in another era, of course. Since then, we've been studying silliness for longer than our own existence, and the discoveries we've made are spectacular!
They come, however, at a cost.
Don't be so morbid! You'll scare them.
I think the real person I'm trying to scare is myself.
The plan is already in motion. We must do this.
We've been putting together a "Final Plan" - a plan that we believe will bring Toontown to silliness levels that have never been seen before. A plan that will lead Toontown to a future that even we can't predict! To get there, we're going to need your help -- and, of course, the help of a certain Doctor Surlee.
I wonder if this will really bring him out of hiding.
He's been waiting for the perfect chance to meet us. I say we give it to him.
I can't imagine he'd pass up on the opportunity.
After all, you know he doesn't trust mailboxes.
We know that we need to earn your trust. As parents always say, "Don't trust two identical scientists detached from time itself!" Luckily, our research has just the thing to get this push of silliness started.
As we continued to inspect the molecular structure of the Tooniverse, we discovered teensy little bugs, causing a significant drain on silliness! Even at their tiny size, they've been the source of countless minor annoyances, sapping Toontown’s overall silliness levels.
Shall we name a few of the ones we've squashed?
Hmm, what would make them most excited?
Perhaps the window will no longer crash when minimizing it.
That's good, but what about eliminating flickering on doors and shadows?
Aha! But you're missing the real kicker to rise silliness like never before.
A bug squash almost over two years in the making.
A fix for those Apple Toons to finally hear the sounds of Toontown again.
The increase in Silly Levels around town will lead to something big. And, perhaps, finally lead Doctor Surlee out of hiding once again. Last month's ripple lasted days, and if our predictions are correct... Well, you'll know it when you see it.
Remember what we told you to tell Doctor Surlee. By our calculations, we'll be seeing you again in a few days.

Get a Slice of the Pie Day Celebration!

Posted by Flippy on March 14, 2018 at 9:00 AM

SPLAT! Say there, come get a slice of the action! Just standing around on a day like today is going to get your crust cooked to a scrumptious golden brown! Keep your eye on the pies, because there's no way those pierates are backing down. Haven't gotten your fill of information yet? Toons, it's the most delicious day of the year: It's Pie Day, Toontown!

Flippy with his booth in the middle of a celebratory Pie Day pie fight.

Toontown's Pi(e) Day Celebration is hot and ready to serve! Whether you're a pie-passing pro or if your skills are a little crusty, today is the perfect day to serve a splat to your friends without any hard fillings. No one can get angry about a great big pie surpies on Pie Day!
To serve your plate as fresh as the Pillsbury dough boy, I've cooked up a batches upon batches of my world-famous pies right here in Toontown Central. Eat your vegetables and then stop by for some "Just Desserts" to serve to your friends, or any Cogs who aren't quite seeing the beauty in the pie of the beholder!
If this pie party heats up any further, I have a filling that Toontown's silliness is going to rise faster than a homemade crust! With April Toons Week just around the corner, and the can of silliness brought by Doctor Fissionton's Bug Bash, there may just be more silliness in Toontown than ever before! If only Doctor Surlee would come out of his lab...
Now, let's cut the chatter and get back to the splatter.
Happy Pie Day from the Toon Council!

The Ides of March Have Returned

Posted by Toon HQ on March 15, 2018 at 5:00 PM

ATTENTION ALL TOONS: A MEGA-Invasion has begun!
Backstabbers are taking over Toontown!!!

Backstabbers invade the area outside of Etude Brute in Minnie's Melodyland.

Another year, another sharp retaliation from the Backstabbers! Something about the deliciousness of Pie Day points them back into Toontown every year on this very day.
But there’s no time to waste sharpening our game-plan. It’s time to cut their invasion out of the picture! Resistance Rangers have been deployed, and they’re ready to help fight back the invasion!
Remember, you can still pick up some free Pie Day pies from Toontown Central for eating, throwing, or just creating some ruckus. Everyone loves a good ol' fashioned ruckus. Perhaps some back to back pie celebrations will show those Backstabbers what Toontown is made of!
On an unrelated note: Come out to the Etude, Brute? Shakespearian Theatre Company in Minnie's Melodyland tonight for a performance by our very own Julius Wheezer. There's sure to be no backstabbing there!

Silly Street's Fire Hydrant Fiasco

Posted by Professor Prepostera on March 26, 2018 at 4:00 PM

Greetings from Loony Labs! I am Professor Prepostera, member of the S.I.L.L.I. (Scientists Interested in Laugh Levels Increasing). For years, Doctor Dimm, Doctor Surlee, and I have been studying the silliness here in Toontown. What makes this place so silly, and how can we harness it? Today, it seems that we've stumbled upon a breakthrough...

A Fire Hydrant on Silly Street with Professor Prepostera and other Toons waiting for it to move.

Over the years, we've seen all sorts of animated anomalies occur. Wherever there's silliness in the air, it seems that Toontown comes to life -- LITERALLY! I was scared out of my lab coat the first time I saw Flippy and Slappy's pie stand spring to life during the election all those years ago.
Whenever this time of year comes around, Toontown gets sillier and sillier. From the Pie Day Celebration to Doctor Fissionton's Bug Bash, this year has especially been especially sillier than we've ever seen! And that, Toons, is where our breakthrough has come...
Loony Labs has been receiving a number of reports from Toons traversing Silly Street about something spectacular. Some blame water pressure or sunspots, but I know better. The reports say that Toons have seen an animated Fire Hydrant trying to spring to life!
I've been trying to get Doctor Surlee out of his lab, but ever since the Fissiontons showed up he's been working on something in there day in and day out. However, I know for a fact that he can't pass up on the opportunity to study a real animated anomaly. It's only a matter of time until he's out there.
Toons, keep sending us your reports! If these Fire Hydrant reports are true, we'll need Doctor Surlee to head out there and study it pronto. I predict that things will only get even more mysterious as we draw closer to April Toons Week...

The Great Silly Particle Search

Posted by The Fissiontons on March 29, 2018 at 4:26 PM

Hello again! Doctor Fissionton and Doctor Fissionton, at your service. This news would normally be the job of Loony Labs to report, but the entire S.I.L.L.I. Team is still scrambling about trying to get a grip on this.
Considering its the result of our own research, I think we fit the bill.
Yes. Silly Particles were our own discovery, after all.
Right you are. Now it's time to unleash their true potential.

A glowing Silly Particle sits between Doctor Fissionton and Doctor Fissionton.

Here's the bottom line, Toons: Silly Particles are scattering all around Toontown! Thanks to a formula developed by my colleague and I, we've managed to temporarily make clusters of these particles visible.
You're being too technical with them. An average Toon won't care a bit about Silly Particles.
An average Toon might not, but Doctor Surlee certainly will.
That's one thing you're right about. It seems he's on his way to Silly Street now.
These Silly Particles can be found in the most wacky locations of Playgrounds, Streets, and Buildings. After collecting them, do us a favor and bring them to Doctor Surlee. The sooner he gets those particles...
Don't just spoil everything for them! You know that isn't how this works.
There's plenty left for them to uncover. This may be their greatest challenge yet.
To think, it all begins with a fire hydrant.
The greatest waves start with the smallest ripples.
We have a plan, Toons. A Final Plan to end the 26th once and for all. It started with our Bug Bash, but not even that was enough to lure Doctor Surlee from his lab. However, Professor Prepostera put it best: "It's only a matter of time until he's out there." You'll see him on Silly Street shortly.
To clean up all of those Silly Particles, they're going to need help.
They'll need all of their friends and more in Toontown.
Absolutely. New Toons and Old Toons...
...Red Toons and Blue Toons.
Time is running short for us, and so we must depart. Do us a favor and remember our instructions. We gave you that puzzle for a reason.
See you soon.

To Our Valued Customers

Posted by The Cogs on April 1, 2018 at 1:30 PM

To our valued customers, "The Toons":
After spending the day trying to subtly inform you of the incoming market crash, it has become evident that you will not heed our warning. Our most specially trained undercover Flunkies infiltrated your social media platforms under the guise of Toon HQ, and you would not even listen to them. It's come to the point where we must tell you plainly: All Silly Particle collection must cease immediately.

The Cogs look at Toons gathering around Doctor Surlee on Silly Street, saying 'This silliness must be stopped.'

We've had much success with our rapid corporate expansion program throughout the past several years, however as you can see in the memo sent to all Cog associates, there's a sharp drop-off in our success rates due to our incumbent competitors' aggressive research and development strategies. That would be you, Toons.
Silly Particles are a dangerous element that threaten the well-being of Toontown. If collection is not stopped, Toontown's silliness will grow to an unstable degree that threatens the town's valuable businesses.
Due to the malicious April Toons Week mischief that started today, the Silly Particles have already expanded so that 50 can be carried at a time, and even worse, their value is worth double to the rogue scientist known as "Doctor Surlee." This advancement cannot be allowed to fester.
The Chairman has ordered that all April Toons Week activities must come to a halt and will NOT continue this year. Without this hindrance in the way, you are welcome to turn yourself into a valuable member of society by contacting our Office of Employment at Cogs, Inc.
We "appreciate" your business.

The ToonTask to Save Toontown

Posted by Doctor Surlee on April 4, 2018 at 3:00 PM

Well, Toons, you did it! I must say, I'm impressed. As of last night around 5:30 PM, all 2.6 million silly particles that I needed for my initial research were collected. Not even the Cogs could belittle such an event! Though, it was a bit crowded for my tastes. I don't think many of you understand the concept of a personal bubble.

Professor Prepostera offers a new ToonTask on Silly Street to find Doctor Fissionton.

Before I continue, I owe an apology to all of Toontown. By now, you likely know my secret: Toontown Rewritten is my experiment. An experiment that the fate of Toontown as we know it rests upon. I came from a timeline that happened prior to this, a timeline that ended in 2013.
I kept my secret from all of Toontown for years, but clever Toons began to realize who I truly was thanks to anomalies that happen on the 26th of each month. I was terrified of what would happen when everyone discovered my secret -- that they may resent me for it -- but thanks to your help over the past week, and the support from Toons far and wide: I realize that I was wrong. Now it's time to make things right.
I've left Silly Street to meet up with Doctor Fissionton, who I'm now working with to redesign a device I call "The Silly Meter." Keep collecting those Silly Particles, because we're going to need them if we're ever going to make this plan work.
If you need to find me, talk to Professor Prepostera on Silly Street. He has the ToonTask you need to get access. Until then, I must be back to my work. Toontown depends on it!

Sir Max is Back

Posted by Sir Max on April 5, 2018 at 3:00 PM

Hey Toontown, Sir Max here! I'm joined by my pals Sir Max, Sir Max, Sir Max, Sir Max, and of course, Sir Max! Come, one and all, for my biggest prank yet.

Sir Max stands with Sir Max, Sir Max, Sir Max, Sir Max, and Sir Max.

I bet some of you have been wondering where I've been this April Toons Week! The Toon Council forbid me from my usual April Toons Week pranks this year, describing that they were "dangerous," "formidable," and "a downright threat to Public Safety." They just don't get the joke!
Sure enough, look what happened in my absence! I can't even leave for a single day without the Cogs taking over the blog! I knew this day would come. After rummaging around outside of Loony Labs -- where I plan my greatest pranks -- I discovered just the device I needed to get the job done. After all, I need to make up for all the days of pranks that I've missed out on.
Which Sir Max is the real Sir Max? It's probably me, but you can't really be certain anymore -- and that's the beauty of it. Anyways, I've got to run before the other Sir Max start a mutiny and declare themselves the true Sir Max.
Keep your eye out for me and my crazy clones all the way until the end of April Toons Week!

Watch the Biggest Toontown Pie Toss EVER!

Posted by The Toontown Team on May 15, 2018 at 4:00 PM

Sorry for the radio silence, Toontown! Some prankster thought it would be funny to buy up Clarabelle's entire stock of radios to send to their friend's mailbox. Even more importantly, all of us here on the Toontown Team are getting ready for the most exciting event of the entire year: ToonFest at ReplayFX 2018!
And of course, with that, one of the oldest and noblest of Toontown traditions...
The Annual Toontown Pie Toss started as a community-created event during ToonFest at OMG!Con 2015, the very first real-world ToonFest since 2007, which took place in Owensboro, Kentucky. Two players brought three pies to throw at Joey, whom you may better know as Sir Max!
Since then, our pie toss has only grown. The 2016 attendees brought over 20 pies to be thrown at Joey, and 2017 brought our biggest pie toss EVER seen in the video above! It was so big, in fact, that we had to bring in two additional "Toon Enough" team members, Jenny (Lemondrop) and Jeremy (Fat McStink) to help Joey out.
Now, fellow Toons, it's time to make history again. From July 26-29 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, ToonFest is coming back to SPLAT our records with more pies than ever before. The best part is: YOU can become a part of it. Joey is begging you not to, which means it must be a good idea!
We have tons of Toontastic activities planned for every day of the event with many surprises in store, especially for those looking for Toontown's next big announcement.
18-3-16 replayfx2018.jpg
The Annual Toontown Pie Toss will take place on Sunday, July 29th at 12:00 PM EST. We'll bring the pies if you bring a few arms to throw them. (That means YOU!)
We hope to see you there! In the meantime, you can catch up on the perfect pie throws of the past and see other ToonFest footage on our YouTube channel. Stay TOONed for more information about ToonFest at ReplayFX 2018, and don't forget to book your tickets before it's too late!

Happy 15th Birthday, Toontown!

Posted by The Toontown Team on June 2, 2018 at 9:00 AM

On June 2nd, 2003, Disney's Toontown Online opened its doors for players all around the world. The evil Cogs proved to be no match for the millions of Toons who have called Toontown their home, and now, 15 years later, we're getting its driver's permit and celebrating its biggest birthday yet.
Some Toons began playing before the official release date, while some of us only began yesterday. Whether you're a seasoned pie-throwing veteran or still trying to find that Blackboard eraser in Toontown Central, we’re all here to celebrate one thing: Fifteen Years of Toontown!
18-6-2 blasttothepast.jpg
Toontown has been through a lot throughout its lifetime, and it's all still here today because of the Toontastic community behind it. Even Disney's official closure of Toontown Online in 2013 couldn't put an end to the cartoon chaos happening each and every day. Thanks to Toons like you, Toontown is still alive and well -- and soon to be receiving multiple MASSIVE expansions!
Every day this week, we'll be celebrating Toontown's 15th Birthday with new and exciting blog posts to give you a sneak peek of the future of Toontown!
For the first three days, we're showing you three brand new Backstage Blog posts to unveil never-before-seen content that we've been working on for 2018. We'll follow that with a story update from everyone's favorite sleuth, Samantha Spade, and you can be sure that the Cogs won't be far behind her!
We’ll be topping off the celebrations next Saturday, June 9th, at 1:00 PM Toontown Time (PST), when we’ll be hosting the first ever Official Toontown Team Livestream to answer YOUR questions about any of the content we've shown throughout the week, and the future of Toontown. We’ll also be hopping in game to play, so don’t miss it!
We're inviting you to join us to celebrate Toontown's 15th birthday with these exciting events, along with in-game fireworks and the most TOONTASTIC event of the year in Pittsburgh, PA from July 26-29. This week is all about showing how appreciative we are of Toontown and its former developers, as well as the Toontastic community (YOU!) who keep the game alive today!
Take this week to bust out the birthday cake, hop into Toontown, and celebrate with some seltzer and slapstick to help us say: Happy Birthday, Toontown!

Welcome to the latest edition of Toontown's Backstage Column. This is the first of a three part series of Backstage posts about some of the exciting things coming in the future to Toontown Rewritten, part of our week-long celebration of Toontown's 15th Birthday!
Today we're talking about something very near and dear to our hearts, and the very core of what makes Toontown so awesome. We're talking about YOU! Hop on the Backstage Train and come along with us as we explain the new things coming for Community, Content, and Cast Members!

Community, Content, and Cast Members

Our Grand Goal
The most important aspect of Toontown, and the whole reason that Toontown Rewritten exists, comes from one word: Community.
When we started Toontown Rewritten, we expected that maybe a few hundred people would sign up to play... And boy, did we underestimate. Almost five years later with nearly 1,600,000 registered players -- it's clear that Toontown's community has grown larger than we ever expected!
Players have formed large community-led Forum websites, Discord servers, in-game clans, reddit communities, and so much more! The amount of support that YOU have given for Toontown is overwhelming, and it's made us ask ourselves an important question:
"How do we help our players make their communities stronger?"
Community-Boosting Content
Community content.png
The first way that we've worked on to enhance the Toontown community is working on content that leaves a strong impact on groups of players. We've been experimenting with this for a while, but the most notable example comes from April's Silly Particle Scavenger Hunt.
We asked you Toons to do something crazy -- collect 2,600,000 Silly Particles in random locations of the game. Many thought it was crazy, and that the goal would take an entire month! Very quickly, however, the Toontown community banded together and started forming exactly the kind of bond that we hoped the event would create. In just a few days, all of the particles had been collected and we witnessed many friends forged from just a small community-centered event.
The Silly Particle Scavenger Hunt is just one example of our community content experiments, and now it's time to take it a step further. Check back for tomorrow's Backstage post to hear about a brand new major update coming soon to Toontown. (Psssst: It's not a one-time event!)
Cast Members: New and Improved!
Community castmembers.png
Have you ever seen a Toontown Cast Member? You may better know them as a Toon Trooper or Resistance Ranger. Cast Members are representatives from the Toontown Team with fancy yellow, green, or blue icons who pop up every now and then in the game!
Cast Member events are always a blast, but we started asking ourselves: How can they be better? Can we use Cast Members to form stronger relationships with other Toontown players?
Coming soon, you'll be seeing Toontown Cast Members in game much more often with brand new abilities to interact with players. We've even been experimenting with the idea of Cast Member minigames, bringing brand new activities to pass the time in playgrounds!
Supporting Content Creators
This is a big one: Toontown has tons of content creators. Between fan art, videos, livestreams, and more -- Toontown is one bustling hub of content! We receive hundreds of letters per year with all sorts of letters and artwork in it, some of which you may have seen on our Snapchat and Instagram Stories for a new "Fanart Friday" activity that we've been doing!
Community creators.png
Fanart Friday is just scraping the surface of the potential, however. We've been talking to content creators for feedback and working behind the scenes on several projects that we hope will give our players a bunch of support to keep making awesome stuff. In the future you might just see Fanart featured in-game, Twitch Drop integration, or even an official forum!
The first of these projects is coming with our new official Twitch Channel, which we'll be using for events like the first ever Toontown Team Livestream on Saturday at 1:00 PM Toontown Time (PST)!
We're still experimenting and developing these ideas, and that's why we're telling you about them now -- we want YOUR feedback! What kind of ways would you like to see Toontown support content creators?
Toons of the World, UNITE!
This Backstage post may not have been the most exciting to some of you, but we hope that those of you who have forged strong friendships and love for the Toontown Community will see the value of this massive push for community strength! You guys are what makes this game great -- not the Toontown Team -- and we hope that these features will help make the game greater.
It's going to take time to roll out all of the features we've talked about today, and to do it, we're going to need YOUR help and feedback! Let us know what you think of our plans -- and if you have any ideas for something we haven't mentioned here, we're all ears!
Check back tomorrow for our next Backstage post with even more exciting news about the future of Toontown. Toons of the World, UNITE!

Meet the Meter | Backstage Toontown

Posted by The Toontown Team on June 4, 2018 at 4:15 PM

We've got another exciting Toontown Backstage Column for you today, folks, where we dive into what's going on behind the scenes of Toontown Rewritten. Today's post is one you've all been waiting for, and we're extremely excited to finally talk about it!
One of our major projects for 2018 (but far from the largest!) has been redesigning a game element from Toontown Online that some adored, and others abhorred. After lots of planning, programming, and design -- we're confident that we've kept the great parts of this feature while replacing the less popular portions with expanded gameplay for both old and new players.
Toons of Toontown, it's time to Meet the Meter!

Meet the Meter

Toontown Online's Silly Meter
In Toontown Online, The Silly Meter was one of the final major updates added to the game. It was a showpiece that demonstrated efforts to modernize the game, and the developers had exciting plans for it!
Sillymeter tto.png
The original development plan was simple: Bring people back to the game with the spectacle of the Silly Meter, and keep them playing with new content and updated graphics. The Disney developers had big plans for Toontown, and the Silly Meter was just one step towards giving the game a proper revival.
Unfortunately, due to management changes happening at Disney Online, Toontown's future changed course. The Silly Meter, while visually fantastic, was mostly a static object that was controlled by scripted sequences. Every "Silly Meter Maxing" event was scheduled, rather than caused by the actions of players in the game. While fun, these events became fairly predictable once players figured this out.
Compounding the issue was that most people were unhappy with the other half of the Silly Meter update, which caused Street Props like Hydrants, Trashcans, and Mailboxes to help in battle. The animation work on these props is nothing short of a technical marvel, but the actual gameplay was cut short. The visuals were given priority over gameplay, dragging out Street Battles far longer than they should have been.
But what if there was a way to go back and fix the mistakes of the original Silly Meter? What if the plans of Toontown Online's developers didn't have to get cut short?
Making Silliness Sillier
To right the wrongs of the past, we've set out to fulfill the original vision of Toontown Online's Silly Meter to bring brand new gameplay and visual charm to Toontown. We've been working on this project for months, and we're finally ready to reveal what we've created!
The new and improved Silly Meter is completely dynamic, meaning everything you do in Toontown has a direct impact on the silly level. Host a party? That earns Silly Points! Earn a new gag? That earns Silly Points too! Defeat a Cog? You guessed it!
Your actions don't just affect the Silly Meter in your current district, but across ALL of Toontown. Of course, Toons aren't the only ones who can impact the Silly Meter. The Cogs are actively working to bring the silly levels of Toontown down with Invasions and Cog Buildings. It's up to YOU to fight back against the Cogs and make the Silly Meter hit maximum silliness!
Now, let's talk about the question on everyone's minds: What happens when the Silly Meter reaches maximum silliness?
Introducing Silly Teams
Sillymeter page.png
In the new Silliness Tracker page of your Shticker Book, you can view the current Silly Level as well as check out your "Silly Stats" to see how you've been earning Silly Points. But that's not all, folks!
The Silly Meter update is bringing a brand new feature to Toontown: Silly Teams. Each time that the Silly Meter begins tracking Toontown's silliness, three random teams will be available for Toons to join in the Shticker Book and put their Silly Points towards. These teams are represented by rewards, and whichever team has the most points when the Silly Meter maxes will activate the reward for ALL of Toontown!
Here are just a few examples of Silly Teams:
Sillymeter trickteam.png

Doodle Trick Boost:
Jump! Backflip! Dance! Doodles perform tricks more often and earn more experience.

Sillymeter fishteam.png

Decreased Fish Rarity:
Holy Mackerel! Rare fish are easier to find with this silly perk.

Sillymeter gardenteam.png

Speedy Garden Growth:
Make your gardens bloom faster than Daisy's to ramp up your garden experience.

Sillymeter laffteam.png

Increased maximum Laff Points while the Silly Meter is maxed!

Silly Teams bring a bit of friendly competition to Toontown, allowing three teams to go head-to-head to earn the most Silly Points in order to activate their chosen reward. We're super excited about this new expansion, and can't wait to see the fun that comes from it!
Do you have an idea for a Silly Team you'd like to see? Let us know in the comments or on a community website and it may just be implemented!
Coming to a Toon Hall Near You
Are you tired of reading the word "silly" yet? Don't worry, this is the wrap up section!
Our new Silly Meter update is coming in 2018 to Toontown Rewritten. We still have work to do to finish the update, especially because of the extreme amount of testing and balancing that this update requires. We'll keep you updated about progress as time goes on, and you can be sure to hear more about the Silly Meter at ToonFest at ReplayFX 2018!
Can't wait for more? Then you'll want to check out our official Toontown Team Livestream on Saturday at 1:00 PM Toontown Time (PST). We'll be answering any sort of questions you have about this new expansion, as well as listening to your feedback on how to make it better.
Check back tomorrow for one final Backstage post detailing some of the things we're working on for Toontown in 2018. We hope that you're getting more and more excited about the future of Toontown!

Saving the Best for ToonFest | Backstage Toontown

Posted by The Toontown Team on June 5, 2018 at 4:40 PM

Hi again, Toons! It's time for our third and final Backstage Column of this week -- the most that we have ever had in a single week. There's a lot of things that we've been working on behind the scenes, and these three posts are only giving you a small glimpse of what's to come.
Today's post aims to give you a sneak peak of our highly anticipated real-world event, ToonFest at ToonFest at ReplayFX 2018 -- and in turn, a glimpse of the huge announcements to expect at the event!

Saving the Best for ToonFest

The Importance of ToonFest
We've hosted a real-world ToonFest event for the past three years, with ToonFest at ReplayFX 2018 being our fourth event. Some players ask us, "Why put so much time into ToonFest? What's so special about it?"
Toonfest2018 players.png
This is a good question -- after all, ToonFest costs thousands of dollars to put on and takes an incredible amount of work to plan and organize! There's a reason why we've done this every year, however, and anyone who has ever attended ToonFest knows exactly why: It keeps Toontown alive in a way that we could never achieve online.
There's something really special about getting a bunch of Toontown players all in one place! The sheer amount of excitement, celebration, and downright fun that we have at ToonFest every year energizes the players and staff alike, and catches the attention of people even outside of the Toontown community.
Think about it: Hundreds of people spend hundreds of dollars to travel and attend an event hosted for a game that was supposed to have closed 5 years ago. That is INCREDIBLE! We've been emphasizing Toontown's Toontastic community a lot this week, and the success of ToonFest is the single greatest testament to just how great you guys are.
Not convinced that you should get excited about ToonFest yet? Let us tell you more about what makes this year special!
New Activities and Collectibles
We've been putting a lot of thought into how to make this year's ToonFest a blast (or, in some cases, a SPLAT!) In addition to all of the great gaming activities that ReplayFX has, Toontown will have plenty of activities of our own such as Game Stations, Competitions, Arts & Crafts, a Pie Toss, and more!
Toonfest2018 mousepad.png
A huge part of ToonFest is also meeting other players and the Toontown Team, who are super eager to meet you as well! Rumor has it that two certain special guests are making a return, too... Can you guess who?
Of course, one of the coolest parts of ToonFest is all of the free stuff you get to take home with you. In fact, we've got a special sneak peek of one of our collectibles this year in the image on the right! That's right -- everyone who attends ToonFest will get to take home an exclusive Toontown Mousepad, in addition to plenty of other goodies that we're saving as a surprise!
Our Biggest Project To Date
Toonfest2018 panels.png
ToonFest isn't all about the fun and games -- but we'll admit, that is a really fun part of it. In addition to the activities at the Toontown Rewritten booth, we host a Main Event every year to announce what we've been working on. Sometimes, like last year's reveal of v2.0.0, this results in brand new gameplay that you can actually play for the first time at ToonFest!
We're going to let you in on a secret: The content we've shown you this week isn't the biggest thing we've been working on recently. In fact, the biggest project that we've EVER created will be seen for the first time at ToonFest. That's a big secret we just told you!
Until then, our lips are sealed! You'll have to "Toon" into ToonFest to see for yourself.
Bringing the Fun Back Home
Hopefully by now, you're as excited for ToonFest as we are. We understand, though, that some of you who live too far away from Pittsburgh, PA may be feeling a bit down that you can't join in on the fun. That's why we're bringing the fun back home to you!
This year, we're doing more than ever to get players who can't attend ToonFest involved. With more Livestreams, more Social Media coverage, and more activities going on in-game -- you'll feel like you're really there!
Toontown's community spans all across the world, and we want to celebrate with ALL of you -- not just the ones who can make it in person.
Watch Our Live Preview
Thanks for sticking with us through this series of Backstage Posts! We've got more blog posts coming every day this week to celebrate Toontown's 15th Birthday, leading up to our official Toontown Team Livestream on Saturday at 1:00 PM Toontown Time (PST).
This Livestream will feature a bit of Q&A, just to give you a taste of our big Q&A with the entire team that's happening at ToonFest!
If you're ready to hop on the hype train and ride over to Pittsburgh, PA -- check out the ToonFest Page of our website to learn more about the event and purchase tickets.
Stay TOONed -- we'll see you on Saturday!

Continuing the Case of Loony Labs

Posted by Samantha Spade on June 6, 2018 at 5:00 PM

It was a cool summer evening -- I had just sat down at my typewriter and started typing this exact phrase. Realizing that there's not much story in telling the events of the present, I decided to go back to where it all started. The Case of Loony Labs just got hairier than Mata Hairy's Toon Resistance uniform after a long C.F.O. battle.

Samantha Spade in... Continuing the Case of Loony Labs!

This is gonna be a long one to catch everyone up to speed on The Case of Loony Labs, so I highly recommend reading my previous case summary before moving forward. If you're one of my top sleuths who already know all of the details of this case -- you'll want to hold out for Part Two.
Yes, Part Two -- I've had to split this case summary into two parts: A recap, followed by my newest findings which I'll report in another post this week. A detective's work is never done.
Now, let's get this case cracking!
The Hydrant Anomaly
Our case continues on a fateful day in March, the 26th to be exact, two months after the date of my previous investigation. All sorts of tomfoolery has happened since then -- and I’m not talking about Doctor Tom. The aptly-named Silly Street’s silliness began to build, causing a Fire Hydrant to spring to life.
This wasn’t smoke and mirrors: This was a clear cut case of a Fire Hydrant turning into a self-aware object if I ever saw one.

File Photos of the dastardly silly Fire Hydrant with Silly Particles.

Based on my observations, Professor Prepostera was able to convince Doctor Surlee to finally take to Silly Street after disappearing from the public eye. The Doc hadn't been seen since the Fissiontons appeared, which is a telltale sign for cooking up some sort of scheme. Oh, and the Doctor had a scheme indeed.
Doctor Surlee reported that before any hunt for Doctor Fissionton's location could be conducted, he'd need a coincidental 2,600,000 Silly Particles for his research. Such a large number wasn’t enough to deter Toontown, however. Toons banded together to find Silly Particles all around Toontown, and boy did they do it well.
As each Silly Particle got collected, the Fire Hydrant seemed to take on more life -- as though it was cheering on all of Toontown on their mission.
Meeting The Fissiontons
This is where things get as juicy as the full juicebox sitting on my desk... Make that half full.
The Toons met their Silly Particle goal, and after a wild goose chase for Professor Prepostera's key card, something outstanding happened. A secret door led Toons to the construction site of a brand new Toon Hall, designed to hold a machine of massive proportions.
On this day, however, the room held something far more complex: The Fissiontons. There are few situations where I could be filled with absolute wonder -- the last was when I won Daisy Gardens’ Annual Potato Sack race in a photo finish -- and this one was for the record books.

Doctor Fissionton inside of the Toon Hall's secret room, with Doctor Surlee and the Silly Meter.

It was unlike any room I had seen before, with bright blue walls and more space than your typical run-of-the-mill shop. In the corner, the work-in-progress of Surlee and the Fissiontons’ project sat for all to see: a Silly Meter. Throughout the building was a strange aura, bringing the feeling that something big was about to happen. Off to the side lay a closed off hallway, the future location of Flippy’s office.
The building inspired hundreds of Toons, myself included, to ask: “What will come of this work?”
Remembering is Key
After more and more Toons had entered the secret area, Doctor Surlee posted something on the Toontown Blog, with a rather cryptic postscript. Toons with a sharp eye will recall the key that one of the Fissiontons had mentioned ("You could say that 'remembering' the password is key."), which will yield this message when put through a decoder:

Fissionton told me to leave this here, somewhere hidden in plain sight for future reference. For those of you who crack the code: Let's leave this our little secret.

Mysterious. The postscript also contained bolded letters which gives letters to the word “memento”. This word turned out to be the password for a new folder found in Terminal 26 on, giving Toons several new documents and puzzles to solve.
Reading the Chalkboard

A Loony Labs Chalkboard.

The chalkboard was a mess of equations and the occasional doodle, but what was most striking were the sticky notes posted on the board, filled with circles and dots and small drawings of gags on them.
When the notes are arranged in the right order and interpreted into a number-filled code called “binary” (and then further decoded by our Toony sleuths), we end up with the text bravery-in-times-of-trouble, which would be the password for the next file: A story written by the Fissiontons called "The Center Silo."
The Center Silo
Upon opening The Center Silo file, we can read up on Doctor Fissionton's past and his memories of the first Toon encounter of the Sellbot Factory. There were additional squares of strange patterns and seemingly randomly highlighted letters in the text, however. Even in these memories there were layers upon layers of puzzles -- ones that Toontown banded together to solve, of course.
The squares resulted in six “plates” that had holes in them, each a specific color and edge pattern. Piecing them together was simple enough, and aligning the holes in the right colors revealed several words: terminal forty three, red herring, experiments, swiss cheese, jumedowfibukti, and chocolate cake.
Still there were additional writings and images on the border of the document, such as numbers that translated to twentytwo, and morse code that translated to twoney. And when the plates are removed, the highlighted letters reveal the word "Caesar" in scrambled order. Taking all of these clues and applying it to the phrase from the plates, "jumedowfibukti," resulted in the phrase savingforlater. Ladies and gents, we have a password for Terminal 43’s Experiments folder.
Slowly but surely, all the pieces of this elaborate puzzle were coming together.
Doctor Surlee’s Experiments
There were two new additions to Terminal 43, the previously mentioned Experiments folder and… a grocery list?
It was an unconventional grocery list, that’s for sure. It had three items on the list, but all that was on the list were blanks. The number of blanks were familiar, fitting the supposed red herrings from The Center Silo document. The passcodes unlocked a trove of information about the mysteries of the "Rewritten" experiment... As well as its side effects.
Maybe the most worrying of all side effects of the pocket watch spinning is one that I’ve seen with my own two eyes in Toon Hall: the Fissiontons are flickering. To where, one might ask? Out of time? Out of place? Back into one Fissionton? It’s a mystery that even I can’t solve, and I solve plenty of those for a living.
The full scoop of Doctor Surlee's experiments can be read in each of these chapters:
1. The Pocket Watch's Flaws
2. Explaining the Unexplained
3. Silly Meter Mirage
4. Fissionton's Flickering

Phew! I haven't had a case that large since I helped that elephant find his missing trunk. Now that the recap is done, it's time to figure out how to bring this case to a close. Keep a magnifying glass close for clues! I'll be back for Part Two.

Doctor Dimm's Alibi

Posted by Samantha Spade on June 7, 2018 at 5:20 PM

"Spade. Samantha Spade. Private Investigator." I was standing in the mirror practicing my introduction when a clamor of bangs and whirrs outside of my door caught my attention. My star witness had arrived, a key Loony Labs scientist, who I was confident had all of the answers I've been searching for. His name? Doctor Dimm.

Samantha Spade in... Doctor Dimm's Alibi!

I opened the door to let the clever duck in. "Hey, why is it black and white in here? And how did you manage to get that mirror around your waist?" he asked with a puzzled expression. He was good. Too good. I knew this duck would be tough to quack, but his expertise fit the bill.
I sat him down and pointed my interrogation lamp on him. The bulb had burned out, but it was tradition. Despite being a member of Doctor Surlee's S.I.L.L.I. Team (Scientists Interested In Laff Levels Increasing), not once had I ever spotted Doctor Dimm throughout all of my investigations. Where had he been during all of this? That was the first question I decided to ask.
"Where have I been? Where HAVEN'T I been? Well, I guess I haven't been watching TV as much as I used to. I even had to come in on a Saturday and missed an episode of DuckTales! I heard it was a good one too, something about Gyro Gearloose's robots taking over a town... What was the question again?"
The scientific genius dodged my question like a low level drop gag. He knew us ducks couldn't resist a good talk about DuckTales, but I had to stay strong. I pushed him further, and asked why he hadn't been working on the Silly Meter with Doctor Surlee.
"I tried to help, you see, but they just didn't trust my spring-loaded wacky wrench! Apparently the wackiness whacked the machine a bit too much for them. They assigned me on another part of the project, developing a device for the Shticker Book to keep track of the Silly Meter. It's batty!"
I told Dimm that I didn't think it was all that batty to be afraid of a spring-loaded wacky wrench, fearing that I'd soon be dealing with murder rather than mystery.
"No, no, I said batty!" he exclaimed, as if he had said anything at all differently than before. It took roughly 20 minutes of back and forth batty chatty before I found that Dimm's Shticker Book device is in fact named the B.A.T.T.Y. Device (Basic Aerial Transmissions To You), and he had at no point been trying to say the word "batty."
We were no closer to discovering what Doctor Surlee and Doctor Fissionton's Final Plan is, when suddenly, my door burst open. A tall fella walked in, covered in Cog oil. The poor Toon looked worse than a grease monkey on Grand Prix Monday. He handed me a note, trembling, and said with a gasp: "The Hollywoods."
We've got trouble. If you’ll excuse me, it looks like I’ve got a case that I can't refuse.

No Business Like Show Business

Posted by Mr. Hollywood on June 8, 2018 at 4:30 PM

The name's Mr. Hollywood to you, Toons. Thanks to all of your recent Razzle Dazzle and silly "Birthday celebration," you appear to have missed all of the marketing for my big premiere. It's a detective noir film, and I suppose you could say, I'm the boss. The pieces of the puzzle are finally falling into place, and I won’t let anyone meddle with my plans. Lights, camera, Mega-Invasion.

Mr. Hollywood in... No Business Like Show Business!

It's tough being the star of an invasion -- there's really no business quite like it! I wonder if I’ll even draw the attention of some executives over at Cog Nation? In order to do that, I’d need to put on quite the show...
You cannot begin to quantify the amount of red tape I have gone through to have this operation authorized. I get the impression that you Toons, along with this "Private Investigator" of yours, will attempt to sabotage and thwart my time in the spotlight. I warn you in advance that if you do anything of the sort, words will be had with the Legal Eagles. I assure you that no one plays me for a sucker and gets away with it.
With that out of the way, I guess it’s time that my goons and I start our takeover. Just in time for my big debut! There are to be absolutely no more shenanigans from you, Toons, else I will ‘cut you from the credits.’
Let's start rolling.

Fire up the Fourth of July Fireworks!

Posted by S'more on July 4, 2018 at 2:00 PM

CRASH, BANG, WALLOP! Aw man, not another busted tire! I was on the final straight of my third and final lap at Goofy Speedway when all of a sudden, out of nowhere, a firework whistled past me - faster than a Doodle racing towards a jellybean!
Gadzooks, that must mean it’s the Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July from Toontown!

Sir Max is on vacation to see the "world's biggest firework," which is actually just a rocket launch in the city of Houstoon. Someone needed to fire up the Fourth of July blog post in his absence, and the Toon Troopers assumed that I must know plenty about fire due to my name. Typical.
Oh well, I don't mind! This has got to be one of my favorite holidays of the year. Why, you may ask? Because it’s one of the few times of the year outside of the Anvil Dropping Ceremony that we can celebrate with a BANG! And when I say bang, I don’t mean the sound of a cannon, I mean the sound of Fireworks! WHEEEEEW! POP! FUZZZZ! Don’t you just love it? I sure do.
From now until July 6th at 11:59 PM Toontown Time (PST) you can look high into the sky and watch as fireworks soar across the sky in Toontown.
If you wouldn’t mind excusing me, I have to get back to planning ToonFest. Us Toon Troopers are still hard at work, because we have a lot to prepare and to show you. In the meantime, I hope you all have a wonderful Independence day filled with laughter, gags and all things silly!

Enter the First "Toon Enough" Costume Contest!

Posted by The Toontown Team on July 5, 2018 at 9:00 AM

Calling all Toons! We have important information for this year’s attendees of ToonFest at ReplayFX 2018. Everyone knows that we have some "Toontastic" events lined up every year at ToonFest, however, one key activity has always been missing... Until now.
We’re proud to announce the First Annual "Toon Enough" Costume Contest!
18-7-5 elevenyearslater.jpg
As long as there's been ToonFest, attendees from far and wide have brought all sorts of costumes without us even asking! From wacky Toons to fearsome Cogs -- we've seen it all. We absolutely love these costumes, and we want ALL of you creative costume creators to get the fame you deserve. It's time to take being "Toon Enough" to the next level.
Even if you are not someone who would normally participate in an event like this, we encourage you to give it a try. Getting out of your comfort zone and showing the Tooniverse just how Toontastic you are could win you an exclusive prize, and some Toontastic fun along the way! (Have we used the word "Toon" enough yet?)
We believe that there's a whole lot more creativity out there than what we get to see at ToonFest, which is why we'll also be accepting online entries for a separate category of the contest to win a Toontown Prize Pack!
We can't wait to see the many different costumes you all will create, as it will surely be a huge highlight of this year's ToonFest. You may still have the rest of the month to work on your costume, but you better go get to work right after you finish reading this blog post! (Or you could just start now… But then you wouldn’t know when the event is taking place.)
Contest Guidelines:
  • You can dress up as any Toontown Rewritten related character: Toon, Cog, Doodle, or if you are feeling really silly: a dancing fire hydrant!
  • The contest will be judged 25% on presentation and artistic quality, 25% on originality, and 50% on Toon-style humor and inspiration, by a panel of sufficiently silly Toontown Team Members.
  • In-person registration and judging will take place at 11:00 AM EST on Saturday, July 28th at the Toontown Booth at ReplayFX.
  • Online entries can be submitted by posting a public photo of your costume on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the hashtag "#ToonEnough" between 12:00 AM and 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 28th.
  • The three best in-person costumes at ToonFest 2018 will receive an exclusive prize and the chance to throw one of the biggest pies at the Annual Toontown Pie Toss. The three best online costumes will be contacted after ToonFest is over to receive a Toontown Prize Pack!
Think you'll feel silly dressing like a Toon? That's the point -- looking silly with fellow Toontown players is part of the fun! You bring the costumes, we’ll bring the cameras to immortalize them in Toon history.
The winners of the contest will be announced at the beginning of our Q&A panel taking place on Saturday, July 28th at 2:30PM. If you're not at ToonFest, be sure to watch our panel Livestream to see these Toontastic costumes for yourself!

Meet the Minds Behind Toontown Online

Posted by The Toontown Team on July 8, 2018 at 5:30 PM

Here at Toontown, we’re eagerly preparing for the most Toontastic event of the year: ToonFest at ReplayFX 2018! However, we're not the only Toontown Developers preparing for the event. You may remember them from last year, and this year they’re back again... Today, we’re officially announcing that Jesse Schell and Shawn Patton, two original developers of Toontown Online, will be returning to ToonFest!
We joined Jesse and Shawn for an exclusive pre-ToonFest interview at Jesse's studio, Schell Games, where they answered the internet's most searched questions about Toontown. Naturally, hilarity and countless antics ensued! Check out the video below.

About Jesse Schell

Jesse Schell is not only one of the original developers behind Toontown Online, he was the lead designer who brought the Tooniverse to life. After developing Toontown, Jesse Schell left Walt Disney Imagineering to become Distinguished Professor of Entertainment Technology at Carnegie Mellon University.

In 2002, he also established his own game studio, Schell Games, which today is the largest full-service education and entertainment game development company in the United States. Jesse continues to follow Toontown and its fans, and is an active supporter of Toontown Rewritten.

About Shawn Patton

Shawn Patton first worked on Toontown in 2002 when he helped to develop Create-a-Toon and some trolley games, including Match Minnie and the Ring Game. After that, he was heavily involved in the creation of Toontown Parties, and worked on both the mini-games and the party editor.

Currently Shawn is Senior Designer at Schell Games, where he has been an important part of the design team for the last sixteen years. Most recently, he served as Design Director on the company's latest VR escape-the-room puzzle game I Expect You To Die and the game’s recent free expansion, First Class.

Jesse Schell and Shawn Patton will be joining us at ToonFest on Thursday, July 26 from 4:00-7:00 PM EST at the Toontown Booth (which we like to call "Toon HQ"). Unfortunately, a scheduling conflict has prevented them from joining us for the Main Event on Friday, and they send their wholehearted apologies to anyone they won't be able to meet.
Don't worry, though -- even if you're not at ToonFest on Thursday, their time will be live streamed for all of Toontown to see! You can find links to the ToonFest livestreams right here on the Toontown Blog on each day of the event.

Toontown's SURPRISE Update

Posted by Sir Max on July 20, 2018 at 6:00 PM

SURPRISE! I bet you weren't expecting to hear from us so soon. After all, the most TOONTASTIC event of the year is only a few days away, and one would expect for us to save all of the excitement until then. But you'd expect WRONG! You must have forgotten my name: Sir Max: Master of Surprise. (Name Approval Pending)

Sir Max showing off the SURPRISE animation in Toontown Central.

Okay, I lied about the name approval. The Toon Council rejected that name. ANOTHER SURPRISE! What's with all of the surprises, anyway? What even is this surprise? A birthday party? Winning the lottery? Jury duty?
Lucky for you, this surprise is none of those things. Unless it's your birthday, in which case: SURPRISE!
Alright, alright, they tell me I'm starting to use up my character limit here, so I'll cut to the chase: The Toon Troopers been working on several huge upcoming features for Toontown, which you can see announced LIVE next week. We realized, however: There's so much that we've completed, that we can't even fit it all into one show!
That's where this surprise comes in. We have a great, big, immensely surprising update today -- the likes of which Toontown hasn't seen in months. There's so much, in fact, that writing all of it in blog post form would take an army of Sir Max's -- and we all know how that worked out last time.
I've listed some of the highlights here for you, but you'll want to check out the notes at the bottom of the post for the full scoop on all of these changes.
Crocodiles and Deer are settled into town and getting more expressive! Special animations now have custom muzzles for these Toon species.
Added a new Fish Bingo mode: Blockout Bingo! We'll teach you the full scoop on how to play in our next blog post before Fish Bingo Wednesday.
A few troubles with Cog Battles have been fixed and re-balanced! For example, Gags of the same type against the same Cog will now either all hit, or all miss. See notes for the full list of battle changes.
Toontown's animations are beginning to get sillier! You'll notice tons of animation tweaks all around, as well as a newly redesigned animation: SURPRISE!
Don't forget, this is just the stuff that we couldn't fit into our event next week. Stop by every day from July 26 - 29 to see what else is in store! Go ahead and check out the very long list of notes to see what other surprises are coming to this update. Ta-ta for now, Toontown!
Note from the Toontown Team

Kong waving next to the Random Toon Shirt.

Last month, we were shocked to hear about the passing of a dear friend to many Toontown players, Michael. (Also known as "Kong" and "Random Toon.") We've created a special shirt to remember him, which will appear in the Cattlelog every year at the end of June. You can get it today by typing the code "thank-you-kong" into your Shticker Book.

We are so proud of the Toontown Community for supporting his friends and family through this hard time!

Blockout Bingo Comes Back to Toontown!

Posted by Deputy Dynamite on July 25, 2018 at 12:00 PM

Howdy, Toons! Deputy Dynamite the Toon Trooper here. Boy, do I have news for y’all. I’m pulling out the big squirt guns: Toon HQ heard you loud and clear in response to our weekly poll that Fishing was Toontown’s favorite way to earn jellybeans, and Flippy immediately put us to the task of only enhancing that experience further!

Deputy Dynamite playing Fish Blockout Bingo.

I’m not a bear that beats around the bush, so let’s cut straight to the chase: a new Fish Bingo game mode has come to Toontown! Newcomers to these parts may be wondering how to play that rodeo. Well, I’ll be happy to tell ya!
During weekly Fish Bingo Wednesdays, as well as during the Fish Bingo portion of Silly Saturdays, a Blockout board will appear at the start of every hour. You'll team up with your nearby dock partners to compete against every pond in the District to clear out the board. The first pond in each District to fill the whole board wins a big ol’ JACKPOT of Jellybeans!
Now, what if no one clears the board before time runs out? That's where it gets interesting... Each hour that the jackpot isn’t won in a District, it will raise by 100 jellybeans. That'll go all the way up to 10,000! I don’t even know what I would do with that many beans. Maybe I'd buy a real nice new pair of boots…
With that being said, get ready to round up your favorite pals to compete for the biggest prize pool Fish Bingo has ever seen. Everyone at the pond wins the prize, so it is key to work together! This will be the one time in your life where y’all will want to keep catching those nasty Old Boots over and over again. They can be used to fill any spot in the board!
Before I leave ya, let me give you the full scoop about this weekend: Myself and the other Toon Troopers will be gathering groups in Fizzlefield, Toontown Central from July 26-29 to help with ToonTasks. That’s right, we’re not just standing around -- we’re gettin’ down to BUSINESS! Bring that ToonTask you’ve been stuck on to us, and we will grab a band of Toons to assist you through it!
If there’s no Toon Troopers there when you arrive, they’re probably all out helping other Toons! Just wait patiently until they’re back. I’ll be there myself and can’t wait to meet y’all! See you then!

ToonFest 2018 | The Main Event

Posted by The Toontown Team on July 27, 2018 at 10:30 AM

Hellooooooo Toontown!
We’ve now officially kicked off ToonFest 2018 here at Replay FX in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Believe us when we say that we’ve absolutely soared out of the starting gates! After only just one day here, the silliness levels are off of the charts. The Main Event happens today from 1:30 to 2:30 PM EDT where we’ll be announcing all of the new things coming to Toontown!

Watch on Twitch
Can’t be there in person? Well, you can wipe that tear from your eye because just like yesterday, we’ll be streaming throughout the panel on both our Twitch and Youtube channels. We’ve got a lot in store so be sure to TOON in to get all the latest scoop.
Yesterday’s events were quite the spectacle, too! It was all about getting to know one another. At the heart of everything, we all have one thing in common that brings us together and that’s Toontown! That’s why we think one of the most important things to do is to get to know one another. After all, whether you’re on the Toontown Team or not, you’re still an integral part of the community that keeps the Toontown dream alive.
What’s better than meeting one another though? Meeting some of the original Toontown Online Developers of course! Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming both Jesse Schell and Shawn Patten, of Schell Games, to the Toontown booth for a few hours. Laughs were had, gags were thrown, and cogs were crushed!
ToonFest has been going on for only one day, and the excitement is building! We’ll be back tomorrow with another daily ToonFest post. In the meantime, enjoy today’s events and check out these awesome photos from the event so far!

ToonFest 2018 | Q&A and Costume Contest

Posted by The Toontown Team on July 28, 2018 at 9:30 AM

Welcome back, Toons!
The antics just continue to rise as we march through the weekend here at ReplayFX. The show’s not over yet folks, we still have plenty to cover -- not only do we have our Q&A panel coming up, but the real world’s about to get a lot more colorful with a Toontown Costume Contest!
Watch on YouTube
Watch on Twitch
Like always, our panel will be streamed through our Twitch and YouTube channel for your viewing pleasure, and our best Photo Fun Photographers will be snapping all the great costumes for you to view on our social media.
Hold the cameras though, because we haven’t even talked about yesterday, and what a day it was! From the moment our booth opened, there was an air of excitement for the upcoming Main Event, and people had so much energy that was funneled into participating in our Scavenger Hunt (We’ll be talking about that a little later).
At our panel, we revealed the really good stuff coming to Toontown in the near future. Let’s give you a quick rundown!
• The Silly Meter will be more dynamic and actually track silly levels in Toontown when Toons complete activities.
• You can join Silly Teams, and there’ll be many different ones to choose from!
• The Toon Hall will be receiving a facelift!
• We’re introducing Parental Controls and Playtime Logs to help players keep better track of their children’s Toontown usage and their own.
• We’ve re-innovated the way we hire for the team, and have processed almost 10 times as many applications in 2017 as compared to 2016. That’s thousands of applications!
• The Toontown Rerigged project for Toons is already live, but our team isn’t done yet, and have already started rigging more objects, like Cogs, and creating tools to allow them to fully rig almost any object in Toontown. Expect things to get a little more lively!
The Sellbot Field Offices are here, and they’re not messing around.
• Whew! We tried to type all the new additions in so many ways, but there’s just too many changes! Here’s a quick list, but check back on yesterday’s livestream for everything… there’s a lot to cover!
These offices are not for the faint of heart: they’ll take a lot of laff, gags, and willpower. Most importantly, they’ll take you and your entire friends list!
• These aren’t normal Cog Buildings. They need so much space, they take up Toon HQs located on street outposts all across Toontown! They tower so high into the air that not just one group can defeat it. As soon as the elevator doors close, they pop right back open to take another group to another annex of the building.
• They’ll feature new battle mechanics, new minigames and a new turn-based boss battle at the end, with new abilities for the boss such as unluring, healing, and promoting Cogs alongside it.
• There will be plenty of new content featured with the Field Offices, such as new ToonTasks and new Laff Points to earn -- this will be Toontown’s next major update since Bossbot HQ.
If you’re a ReplayFX attendee, you’ll be helping us all today by testing the new Field Offices and giving us thoughts on what you think! That’s right, all your live Toons have been copied over to our super-secret developer server for the first time because we’d really like to get this right for you guys. We hope you have a lot of fun! For those of you at home, don’t worry, we’ll still be taking your suggestions and feedback for Field Offices and we’d love to hear what you think.
If you missed out on our Main Event livestream, it’s not too late to check out what we just covered in its full detailed glory -- they’re up as videos already on our YouTube and Twitch channels! A bullet list does not do the panel justice, so grab some popcorn and lean back for an hour and enjoy the show!
After all this, what more could we possibly have to show? With many of us being Toons for 15 years now, we know a thing or two about Toontown magic. All we can say is stay TOONed for today, and check back tomorrow for another daily ToonFest post. In the meantime, here are some more photos of all of the fun we’ve been having so far!

ToonFest 2018 | Operation: Pie Toss

Posted by The Toontown Team on July 29, 2018 at 1:30 PM

Hellooooooo Toont - wait, haven’t we said this before?
Any-who, we’ve been having lots of fun here at ToonFest at ReplayFX 2018. We may be drawing close to wrapping things up, but we are still getting even sillier, and messier. Much, much messier. That’s because today was the annual Toontown Pie Toss!
While we didn't livestream this event, our Toontastic photographers were on hand to catch the whole thing. What’s better? It’ll then be uploaded to our social media channels, including our YouTube channel, so you’ll be able to enjoy the fun from the comfort of your own Toon estate.
Yesterday’s antics are something to be celebrated too, especially due to the surprise the Toontown Team had in store. As Toons filled the auditorium for what was expected to be just your average Q&A panel, there was a sense of excitement in the air, almost as if something big was looming.
Mid-panel, our team of panelists received an important message from the Toon Resistance. This message outlined the details of a forthcoming operation, which is being initiated in an attempt to stop the Cogs and their “C.F.O Project”. With that said, we are very pleased to announce that "Operation: Crash Cashbot HQ" will soon be put into full force.
Aside from that, there were lots of intriguing questions from both the audience and from our friends at home. From Field Offices, to textures and art, to Toontown politics, we had the questions coming from left, right, and center!
To make the day even more magical, we saw people from around the world dress up in some amazing costumes. We'd like to thank everyone who took part in our costume contest! We had everything from Toons, to Cogs, to Fish! Here were some of our favorites from the day.
The fun is not yet over though as we still have one day left here, packed with even more laughter and fun. We’ll be back tomorrow with a full ToonFest 2018 wrap-up post. Until then, check out these awesome photos of the event and how it has unfolded so far!

ToonFest 2018 | That's a Wrap!

Posted by The Toontown Team on August 12, 2018 at 2:00 PM

Hello? Is this thing on?
OUCH! That sound system has gotta stop acting up. Anyhow, the final scene of ToonFest at ReplayFX 2018 has finally wrapped up, and we've all settled back home after a week-long nap. Judging by what YOU'VE been saying, this has been the best ToonFest yet! We put a boatload of effort into making sure everyone had an awesome time, and we're so happy to see how much that effort paid off.
If we tried to explain every single detail of all the giggles and fun we had at ToonFest I think we'd be here until... Well, let's just say we'd be here a while. From flying pies, to Cogs invading the booth, to Field Offices, we sure had a blast and we hope you did too! Here's a quick wrap-up with some of the highlights from the weekend, for those who didn't follow along day to day.

Thursday - July 26th
We kicked ToonFest off with some good old nostalgia! At the heart of everything we do here, Toontown is at the core of it. The community does such a wonderful job of helping keep the Toontown dream alive and we wanted to take a moment to celebrate that!
Who better to celebrate with than two original Toontown Online developers? With Jesse Schell and Shawn Patton back in the hot seat, they jumped into the game and spent time playing some of the content that they originally worked on, like Toon Parties!

Friday - July 27th
Oh boy, was this a Friday to remember. We had our Main Event, which for those who don't know, is where we announce all of the newest and greatest things coming to Toontown! Yup, you guessed it... We had some new and great things to show!
In case you missed it:
• The Silly Meter will be more dynamic and actually track silly levels in Toontown when Toons complete activities.
• You can join Silly Teams, and there’ll be many different ones to choose from!
• The Toon Hall will be receiving a new exterior design!
• We’re introducing Parental Controls and Playtime Logs to help players keep better track of their children’s Toontown usage and their own.
• We’ve re-innovated the way we hire for the team, and have processed nearly 10 times as many applications in 2017 as compared to 2016.

• There will be plenty of new content featured with the Field Offices, such as new ToonTasks and new Laff Points to earn -- this will be Toontown’s next major update since Bossbot HQ.
If you want to go the extra mile though and watch the whole panel, it’s not too late to check out everything we covered in its full detailed glory -- they’re up as videos already on our YouTube and Twitch channels!

Saturday - July 28th
On Saturday we had our Q&A panel, where players have the opportunity to ask the Toontown Team questions! Although a little way into the panel, the team received a memo from the Toon Resistance. This memo would go on to detail the plans for an imminent major assault on the Cogs. It was at that moment that Operation: Crash Cashbot HQ was announced!
In addition to the Q&A panel, we held a costume contest! Toons from around the world dressed up as their favorite Toontown characters. There were costumes of Toons, costumes of Cogs, and even a costume of the Clown Fish! To everyone who participated in the contest, either in-person or via online submission: You ARE Toon Enough!

Sunday - July 29th
The fun and games weren't just over yet, though. In fact, the fun was about to get a lot messier at our Annual Toontown Pie Toss! Three members of the Toontown Team stepped up to the plate - excuse the pun - to have pies thrown at them from any Toon who wanted!
We're still working on editing the video of the pie toss. Once completed, we'll upload the video to our YouTube channel so you can watch the action from the comfort of your own Toon estate! In the meantime, here are some pictures from the event:

Whew! This sound system is still kicking. Anyway, that just about sums up everything we did at ToonFest at ReplayFX 2018. Before we go though, we'll leave you with some of our favorite photos from the event.
Here on the Toontown Team, we hate goodbyes. That's why we'll simply say: See you next year!

Sir Max's Birb Expedition (500th Blog Post!)

Posted by Sir Max on August 18, 2018 at 3:30 PM

TODAY'S THE DAY! After years of what critics in the Toontown Times have praised as "almost unreadable" and "so confounding that I couldn't tell what news was being conveyed," we have officially hit 500 Blog Posts here on the Toontown Blog!

500 to go!

We've come a long way since Cannon Tag, haven't we? Ah, yes, those were the days... Back when the Toon Council would reject my ideas as "dangerous" and "slightly worrying." But let me tell you, I've learned a lot since then. Now, I just don't tell them and do it anyway!
Just last week, Flippy pulled me aside to make sure I wasn't planning any unapproved adventure for the 500th blog post. I answered, "Of course not!", since I hadn't been planning any sort of unapproved adventure... I had already been on one.
While the other Toon Troopers were doing silly things like doing their job, I decided to embark on an expedition. A GRAND EXPEDITION, in fact, to the depths of the Winding Woods. I was in search of a rare creature that I had only heard stories of. A creature I have now come to know as... The Birb.

Sir Max's Birb Expedition.

The Birb! Don't you get it? The Birb is what we've all needed in our lives! A creature to help us understand what it means to be free, what it means to love, and what it means to... Okay, you got me, it doesn't really do any of that. But its nest does make for a pretty comfortable piece of headwear, and since I blew off my assignment about spreading news for the upcoming ToonFest event while searching for this lil' guy, maybe you guys can help me out here.
With enough Tweets and shameless marketing ploys, you too can get your very own limited Birb nest accessory! If we can get 100 retweets and 500 likes on the post below, I'll send out a code to give every Toon in town their very own Birb. After all, we need to spread the word to our friends that ToonFest is coming up soon!
Wait wait wait, don't walk away! So, maybe you don't want to wear a Birb on your head. To up the stakes, each like and retweet will count as one entry to win one of 25 exclusive codes from ToonFest at ReplayFX 2018! How's that for a prize?
I love my job here on the Toontown Blog, and I hope that you've loved all of my shenanigans over the years. That wraps up blog post #500 -- here's to 500 more!

ToonFest 2018: Toontown Rewritten's 5th Anniversary!

Posted by The Toontown Team on August 20, 2018 at 2:00 PM

Five years ago on this very day, the Toontown community was hit with tragic news: Disney's Toontown Online was closing. The still thriving community had only a month to say their goodbyes and let go of a potential decade’s worth of progress. On September 19th, 2013, people sent their final sendoffs as their favorite online game closed…
But something else happened. An announcement was sent out on [] about a project called Toontown Rewritten -- and here we are today, getting ready to celebrate our Five Year Anniversary on September 19th with ToonFest 2018!
Toonfest-2018 sm.png
September 19th is no longer a time to mourn our loss: it’s a time to celebrate! Four years ago, we left our Closed Beta period after a year of difficult work. With that, Toontown became open yet again to all players, this time for FREE. Today, we celebrate the tradition of ToonFest to remember how lucky we are to still have Toontown!
We recently wrapped up an in-person celebration called ToonFest at ReplayFX 2018, but ToonFest is worth more than just a weekend. On September 19, 2018, we will begin Toontown Rewritten's fifth anniversary celebration with the in-game ToonFest event!
What is ToonFest?
ToonFest, named after Disney's real-life Toontown event that took place in 2006 and 2007, is the annual celebration of all things Toontown! From slapstick to silliness, it has a bit of everything. It's time to take a break from the Cog battles, make some new friends, and play some fun games while we think about how far we've come.
This in-game event is not to be confused with the real-world "ToonFest at ReplayFX" event, which happened last month. It's a little confusing -- just roll with it!
What happens during ToonFest?
On September 19th, the official in-game ToonFest celebration kicks off with a series of blog posts by our very own Riggy Marole to keep you entertained and in the Toontown spirit. Here's a little synopsis of everything that the celebration has to offer:
• Over in Acorn Acres, you can enter the ToonFest party grounds to join the fun.
• Enter the silliest area in Toontown with the giant Merry-go-Round, (Jelly) Bean Bags, and plenty of activities to keep you occupied while chatting up with friends.
• A grand fireworks spectacular lights up the sky every three hours with a nostalgic Toontown melody, and if you come a bit early you'll be able to catch the sunset!
• Earn "ToonFest Tokens" to buy special items, accessories, and even a unique Toon color -- only available once per year!
• Meet the fleet of Token Takers, noted by their world-famous mustaches. You can’t miss them!
• Stop by and talk to Riggy Marole, the wackiest rabbit in town who acts as the emcee extraordinaire of ToonFest!
• Work together to dunk Cleff, everyone’s favorite duck from Minnie's Melodyland, in the Duck Tank! The more you dunk the duck, the more prizes you earn!
What's new this year?
We may have tons of other content in the works, but that doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten about ToonFest! You can expect to see some Toontastic updates to the ToonFest area, which will be announced by Riggy Marole during the event. Keep your eyes peeled on the Toontown Blog!
What is there to celebrate?
Toontown was supposed to close five years ago, yet it's still alive and well today! With thousands of daily active players and lots of new content in the works, the Toontown community has proven that this is a game worth keeping.
Every September we take time to "Rewrite" the past with this event. What used to be the saddest day in Toontown's history now marks the beginning of Toontown's greatest celebration. Instead of a loss, we can remember a revival!
Of course, the Toontown Rewritten team also has lots of new content coming soon. From the Silly Meter to Field Offices and even Crash Cashbot Headquarters on its way, there’s never been a better time to play Toontown. The original Toontown developers wanted so much more than we got for the Tooniverse, and we're working tirelessly to bring their vision of Toontown's future to life.
We hope that you're excited to celebrate ToonFest with us, and we thank you all so much for helping us make Toontown what is today! Now that you've gotten to question us, we have one more for you:
Are YOU Toon Enough?

The Cogbuck Conundrum

Posted by Samantha Spade on August 26, 2018 at 3:00 PM

The name's Samantha Spade: Private Investigator. The last part's my title, not my last name. My investigation has been getting tighter than a Tightwad's bags of cash, ever since the events of the last 26th. The Toon Resistance had been alerted of the existence of a top-secret Cog memo, but they had a big problem: they couldn’t find hair nor hide of it anywhere! (And trust me, they checked under every rock, in every nook and cranny.)
After some sleuthy investigation, it was concluded that the anomalies had intervened with the location of the memo and transported the memo somewhere outside of Toontown. Puzzling Patricia -- my informant inside the Toon Resistance -- was my second pair of eyes on the scene. Luckily, I seemed to have had my work cut out for me. Other sleuths on the scene were solving the puzzles even before I could! Let's check out their findings in a case I'm calling: The Cogbuck Conundrum.

Samantha Spade in... The Cogbuck Conundrum!

A Flunky Introduction
Cogs, Inc. definitely did not want Toons to have all the fun at ReplayFX, as they had sent in one of their own in the hopes of getting free publicity for their own ends. A Flunky had wandered into the ToonFest booth, handing out fake Cogbucks filled with jargon, in hope of enticing Toons to join their corporation. That Cog was a despicable fellow, with his sneaky mumbo jumbo and enticing Cogbucks. Never trust a Cog, that's what I always say.
RFX Cogbuck.png
Luckily, the production line for these particular set of Cogbucks had been tampered with by the Toon Resistance, sneakier than an ant running across your bedroom floor. They always told me I was a good detective, but nobody's ever said my analogy skills are on point. Back on topic, the hijacking was a success, adding a hidden transmission for potential Toon Resistance recruits to spot directly on the Cogbucks.
They h/ad been modified with a QR code, technology which is beyond even the greatest of detectives. Yet, when these codes were scanned, a message and a puzzle from Lord Lowden Clear was received. I may have not attended the event in person, but I could never pass on such a puzzle. This code allowed for Toons attending the event to use their detective skills to solve this conundrum.
Hidden in Plain Sight
These Cog memo pieces were not going to be found easily, as Toons had to find and solve 6 puzzles scattered around the convention center. Once a puzzle was solved, Toons and Resistance Representatives worked together to reveal each memo piece that was hidden behind each puzzle.
A multitude of puzzles tested Toons from all around, all right here:
A stray piece of paper… and A mysterious grid: A matching pair, it seems that the contents of the paper have something to do with the grid and how to unravel it.
Dimm's Dropped Debris: This puzzle is straightforward, as much as Doctor Dimm isn’t, to look at the different parts and see which one would fit right in his… er… P.O.C.K.E.T.
Baker Bridget's Cupcake Creation: I’m no baker, but I can see a scrambled set of steps when I can see them. We’d need to look at other similar recipes to anywhere with this. Or… maybe the torn pieces could be a hint, too?
Circles and Symbols: Wowie zowie, I haven’t any symbols like these anywhere. Maybe covering up parts of it would show something familiar? Those circles probably have something to do with getting an answer, too.
Punchy's Predicament and Larry's Levitating Library Shelves: Two tricksy predicaments that Librarian Larry and Fisherman Punchy have gotten themselves into. I’m sure it’s not so puzzling that we’d get stumped by it too!
The Final Puzzle: The final puzzle isn’t quite a puzzle, but a quiz from Lord Lowden Clear himself! I hope you didn’t skip to the last puzzle, because you’ll need to know the previous puzzles to finish this one!
Under Lock and Key
At last, after several days of teamwork, some sharp Resistance Rangers had solved the puzzles and gathered all nine pieces of the puzzle to reveal the elusive Cog memo, but there was just one problem…
RFX Memo.png
Drat! It seems that the Cogs have further encrypted their documents, as if they've gotten wise to our intercepting ways. Not to worry though, this should just be a little hiccup in stopping the Cogs from starting their plot.
Say, with this post being on the 26th -- maybe there's even an anomaly in my own investigation! I've seen stranger things from those Loony Labs folk, that's for sure. Either way, it's back to case cracking for me. I hear there's a runaway Clown Fish down at the dock, and I need to get my hands on him for a new trophy!

Scuba Symphonies

Posted by Sir Max on September 1, 2018 at 11:30 AM

Glub glub glub? No, that's not it. Swish swash? That's not right either. Bubble bubble toil and trouble? Eh, that's close enough! Sir Max here, reporting that fish noises are hard to sound out. You may be wondering why I'm trying to sound out fish noises, or better yet, why I'm writing this underwater. Keep reading, friends, because we have a new update to discuss!

Sir Max scuba diving in Donald's Dock

First off, let's talk about the whale in the water: What I'm doing writing a blog post from underwater. Nay, it's not to spot any seahorses or search for the shoe I lost. (If you find a missing shoe in Donald's Dock, please contact me.) Instead, it's to listen to the new works of the Toontown Symphony Orchestra!
As many of you know, Toontown is filled with all sorts of music. But where does it come from? Who composes it? Is the album available on iToons? It's best not to think about those things and just enjoy it, which is exactly what I'm doing with this new underwater music!
Hold your breath for just a little while longer, because that isn't the only tweak coming to Toontown! Most of the Toon Troopers are busy working on prepping for the big celebration opening later this month, but I've been working the new Troops to the brim to crank out some widely requested features and fixes. I'd read them all to you now, but it turns out paper and water are not good friends.
Instead, you'll have to settle for this list of changes below that are coming TODAY to Toontown. We hope that you enjoy this little update, and-- GAH! Running out of oxygen! TOODLES!

Sneak Peek: Upgrades to Toon T.A.G.S.

Posted by Mustavo on September 15, 2018 at 2:00 PM

Heya, pals! You've probably never seen me 'round these parts formally, but I get around. They calls me Mustavo, the Toon Trooper. I’m a bear, one with a Mustache, formerly a token taker. But that ain’t all there is to my personality! I’ve got aspirations in life, ya see. Today I'm here to give ya's what some may call a "sneak peek" of what's coming to Toontown.

Mustavo showing off new updates to Toon T.A.G.S. in a Cog Building.

Over a year ago, the Toon Council brought me on the scene to assist with various tasks to make Toontown a nicer place. My first quest on the job? I fixed up them ol’ Speedway screens and made em’ work as they should. Ever since then, I’ve been watchin’ the speedway and I noticed that between racing, people there are doin’ a whole lotta talkin’.
For my next project, I asked my good friend Doctor Dimm if I could look into improvin’ the ol’ Toon T.A.G.S. (Totally Awesome Graphic Simulation) that Loony Labs pioneered those years back. He gave me the go ahead, but he seemed a bit preoccupied. I guess that Silly Meter is takin’ up all of his time!
Anyhow, I got to work concocting the latest upgrades to the T.A.G.S., and boy do I think you’re all gonna like this one. Here’s what I did: I took a little bitta’ dis-cord, I took a little bitta’ dat-cord, I threw em’ all together in who knows which ways, wop-bop a loo-bop a lop-bam-boom, there it went! You'll be able to see precisely where all your friends are in Toontown from the Toon Detail Panel, whether they’re on Silly Street or fighting the Chief Justice!

Mustavo Playing Toontown on Discord

But that ain’t all I’ve done. When I was lookin’ through all the cords I had available to use, one in particular piqued my interest. It was a strange thing I tell ya, it glowed with an eerie blue light. I fed some data into it, and lo and behold it was hooked up right into my Discord account!
Toontown Discord Servers have grown to be some of the most Toontastic community hubs, and the Toon Council was all for supporting it. As of next update, you'll be able to see Toon Details in Discord for anyone playing the game who has the featured turned on. In the future, you might even look forward to being able to jump right into the Tooniverse with your Discord friends as well!
If you're o'er the age of 13, have yer parental's permission, and want to join a Toontown Discord server: I'd recommend checking out the /r/ToontownRewritten Discord which the Toon Council has found to be a safe and suitable place for Toons.
NOTE: This Discord server is community-ran and not officially sponsored by Toontown Rewritten.
That's all for this bit 'o "sneak peek." I better get back to pursuerin' my other aspirations! I think next I want to go diveskying. You can catch these upcoming features in the next update coming soon to Toontown. And don't forget, ToonFest starts on September 19th!

Celebrate Five Years of Toontown Rewritten! | ToonFest 2018

Posted by The Toontown Team on September 19, 2018 at 2:00 PM

Five years ago on September 19, 2013, Toontown Online closed its doors. A message appeared on screen -- one that players normally would hope they would never see again, but in this instance wished they could see it just one more time. "Your internet connection to the servers has been unexpectedly broken."
Thankfully, we live in a world where that disconnect message was far from the last. Just seconds later, Toontown Rewritten was officially announced, and we now celebrate FIVE YEARS of a revival that has proven to be like no other!
18-9-19 fivemoreyears.jpg
By all circumstances, Toontown Rewritten shouldn't exist. It especially shouldn't have an annual convention, nearly two million registered accounts, and thousands of daily active players. The reality is: It does, and we never want to take that for granted.
That's why we're inviting you to jump into Toontown between now and October 20th to party with us in celebration of Toontown Rewritten's fifth anniversary. Today marks the beginning of our annual in-game event, ToonFest 2018!
To enter ToonFest, head over to the special event area in Chip and Dale's Acorn Acres or click on the red ToonFest teleport button on the top right of your screen. Here's just a few of the things to expect during this year's event:

Meet Riggy Marole
It's hard not to love Riggy Marole, the absolutely insane host of ToonFest who keeps things lively throughout the event. You can expect to see a blog post from him soon! In the meantime, he'll be strolling around ToonFest talking to Toons and generally being a bit of a rascally rabbit.
16-9-19 meetmarole.jpg

Earn Exclusive Prizes
One of the most exciting parts of ToonFest are glamorous Token Takers, located within the ToonFest tower and at pop-up booths around the area! These Token Takers will sell you all sorts of exclusive items, from limited time accessories to portable pies to experience multipliers! No matter what kind of Toon you are, we've got a bunch of prizes in store for you. Earn ToonFest tokens by playing minigames in the area, and keep your eyes peeled for new ways to earn as the event goes on!
16-9-19 tokens.jpg

Bigger and Better
ToonFest isn't just here for the weekend. We'll be partying all month long, and releasing updates and blog posts along the way to keep the fun going! Riggy Marole will be delivering you all of the latest ToonFest news, along with ways the event will get bigger and better as it has ever year!
16-9-19 newactivity.jpg

Blast to the Past
To celebrate how far Toontown Rewritten has come in these five years, for the first time ever the Toontown Team will be hosting a special livestream to play a remastered and updated version of the "Toon Council Presidential Election" event, which was available at the end of Toontown Rewritten Alpha in 2014.
Due to technical limitations, this event will only be available to watch rather than play. However, if there's high demand after the livestream, we may rework this event to be playable by anyone in the future.
"TOON" in on September 29 at 1PM Toontown Time (PDT) to watch this live event with commentary from the Toontown Team! More details will be posted on the blog next week.
The Toon Council Presidential Election: Back for the first time since 2014!

ToonFest is now available to play by visiting the special event area in Chip and Dale's Acorn Acres, or by clicking the red ToonFest teleport button located at the top right of your screen. Go enjoy the fun before it's gone!
Thank you all so much for FIVE YEARS of Toontown Rewritten!
You ARE Toon Enough!

CRASH Into the Fun! | ToonFest 2018

Posted by Riggy Marole on September 23, 2018 at 7:00 AM

WOWZA! What a fantasticin' turnout, if I do be sayin' soin' myselfin'. It's been only a few days, but my bundle o' bears tells me that those ToonFest prizes are flyin' off the shelf faster than a jackrabbit on a jackhammer. If yer new here, let me give ya's the rigmarole -- my name's Riggy Marole, and I'm the host with the toast (and jellybeans) here at the grand event known as ToonFest!
18-9-23 riggysvolitionviolation.jpg
What's new at ToonFest this year, eh? That's where I've got o' bone to pick with ya. Turns out some certain Toons complained to the Toon Council about a bunch of crashes at my event, so they sent out some sorta inspectorator!
The boy-o tried to tell me that I've got a case o' da "buildin' code volitions" and that the Toon Troopers would need to help fix 'em, but the only volition I know of around here is the volition I have to eat this entire jar of jellybeans.
So I told 'em that my bears can build so well that they've got their own workshop, but he didn't budge even when we offered a free voice box with his bear. So they sent a ton o' Toon Troopers down here and fixed a bunch of the ToonFest crashes! Much to my dismay, ToonFest may be even more stable than ever. Can you believe the nerve o' these fellas?
Luckolee, I know one of the Troops down at ye ol' Toon Hall. A fellow appreciator of the cashin' arts, named Sir Max, who always manages to get past those rascally Toon Council mandates. If we're lucky, there may just be a crash or two left in there!
Anyhoo, I outta get back to runnin' the event! ToonFest is lastin' all month long, and there's still time to create a few more crashes! HAH!
PS - I ran into one of those Toon Trooper pals named Mustavo, who wanted me to let ya know that those upgrades to Toon T.A.G.S. are here!

Cannon Improv-ments | ToonFest 2018

Posted by Riggy Marole on October 7, 2018 at 7:00 AM

Boy o' boy, it's time for ToonFest Improv! I love improvizatin' jokes: So what about those Token Takers, eh? With all the Tokens we give 'em, you'd think they could afford more than a single style of 'stache. HAH! Yes, and what's up with that striped uniform? They should try tryin' the accessories that they're sellin'. HA HAH, I'm on a Riggy Ma-roll!

Riggy Marole blasting through the sky from a cannon at ToonFest.

Next up on ToonFest Improv... Eh, whaddya mean "Improvements"?
Sorry chums, it turns out the note I got about "Writing a post about ToonFest improv." meant "Writing a post about ToonFest improvements." BAH, still fun, and this way Token Taker Ted will stop glaring at me about that stripe joke!
One of the things causin' a KABLAM in ToonFest this week has been those sticky cannons! Toons everywhere have been getting stuck left and right, up and down, cloud to cloud -- UNTIL NOW! As sure as my best bowtie, those cannons have been de-stickied and primed with the most explosive powder that my jellybeans could buy!
The cause of those cannons? Turns out Sticky Lou took a trip to ToonFest last week! That blue glue was blendin' right in with the ToonFest blue paint that dripped off from Toons who recently got a fresh coat. Anyhoo, I better get back to ToonFest-iteerin'. I'll see ya in the sky!

The Grand Finale Fiasco | ToonFest 2018

Posted by Riggy Marole on October 14, 2018 at 12:00 PM

Self-propusionin’ rocketeeries… Check. Fire-resistin’ multicolorin’ confetti… Check. Hype-inducin’ music machinery… Check. Chocolatey Token Doubley-doohickey… Check.
18-10-14 tokentakermustavo.jpg
Alrighty fellas, I think we're as good to go as a hungry rabbit in a magician's hat! Token Takers, I know that you'se all been a bit scared of the safety checks that the Toon Council has been imposin’ on us, callin’ us a “hazard o' safety” and whatnot.
Today, we’re makin’ sure that these here fireworks are completely safe-a-roony. I even bought the high quality duct tape for this! From now until midnight on October 19th, we’ll be runnin’ Finale Fireworks every three hours across Toontown! We gotta keep dem’ fireworks in tip-top shape, or we’ll never be hearin’ the end o’ it from the press!
But what if things don’t work out yasay? Ol’ Rigmund comes prepared. If there’s one thing I’m the best at, it’s bribin’ people. HAH! I’m hopin’ nobody else heard that last part. Anywho, to celebrate the last week of ToonFest, we’ll also be doublin’ all ToonFest Tokens rewarded. That should be makin’ the population pretty happy, regardless o’ what happens with these fireworks.
Remember, this entire conversation is con-fee-den-tea-al. These are prime Token Taker secrets, I tell ya! What’s that you say, Tammy? Nonsense, none of those Toons over there can hear us talkin’ secretly. Wait, does that bear taking notes look like Toon Trooper Mustavo to any of ya's?
QUICK, cue the fireworks! DISTRACT THEM with colors, explosions, and double tokens all week long! HAH HAAAA!

Jack O' Kazam's Spooktacular Halloween

Posted by Jack O' Kazam on October 25, 2018 at 12:00 AM

This year's different. I see it in the skies.
It's time I see Toontown with my own two eyes.
Hallow’s Week has arrived; listen and heed this verse.
For tonight is the night of The New Spooktown Curse.
You may have seen me before, yet only in brief.
This year will be different, I will personally bring grief.
To all of the town, if you ever so dare,
In Toontown Central, you will find yet a scare.
For I will be out there, with my new minions in tow,
The town is all lit with the eerie Halloween glow.
Approach me at once, there's no need for a mask!
My Tricks and my Treats come in the form of a ToonTask.
All around the town, Jack-o-Lanterns brought to life,
With a harsh pumpkin scent, the town will be rife.
The game of Trick or Treat, only my Pumpkins truly know.
No matter how you slice it, your jellybeans will grow.
For what will those beans be used on this year?
Perhaps a Spooky Purple color, to spread that holiday drear?
From Clarabelle’s Cattlelog, of which I invaded,
The Spooktown Curse cannot be evaded.
I’m not yet done -- there’s still plenty reason to fret!
Spellbound Bags have returned, rounding off this spooky set.
These bags contain my spells; there's no telling what you'll find.
The effects even I don’t know, though they’ll surely put you in a bind!
So come, one and all, if you’re ready for a treat,
Completing my trials will truly be a feat!
The skies grow dark, the curse is here!
Come down to The New Spooktown if you’re ready to face your fear.

The Bloodsucker Busters

Posted by Lord Lowden Clear on October 27, 2018 at 2:00 PM

Happy Halloween, Toontown! Lord Lowden Clear of the Toon Resistance, here. The Toon Resistance has been watching the skies closely, and just as we suspected, those thirsty Bloodsuckers are planning a Mega-Invasion. To get a closer look at the situation, I deemed it necessary to grab my disguise and send in some bloodsucking bait.

Resistance Ranger Rocky runs from Bloodsucker Cogs while Lord Lowden Clear keeps watch.

To no Toon’s surprise, those Bloodsuckers took the disguise faster than a mosquito in the summer heat! However, it seems that they are more ghoulish than we’d anticipated -- they’re putting up a good fight against our Resistance Rangers. We need YOUR help to bust out the garlic and wooden stakes to take those Bloodsuckers down!
Toons, it’s time to take action. The Resistance Rangers have hit the streets, and enlisting the help of any Toon who is willing to help them take the Bloodsuckers down. You can identify them by the green icon floating above their head. If you bump into one and fight valiantly enough, you may even receive a Toon Resistance uniform!
For now, I need to get this Bloodsucker off of my back. He seems to think talking to me will lawfully raise his ranks in the corporate food chain. Until next time, keep them busting -- with laughter!
Lord Lowden Clear
Leader of the Toon Resistance

Have a Hauntingly Happy Halloween!

Posted by Flippy on October 31, 2018 at 2:00 PM

TODAY IS THE DAY! Grab your spookiest, scariest, silliest costumes and hit the streets of Toontown! It's one of the very few nights of the year that I get to leave Toon Hall, grab a costume from Clarabelle, and head out to score some of that sweet candy. Fluffy, have you seen my pirates boots anywhere?

Flippy wears a Pirate Costume on Halloween, with Black Cats running amok behind him.

Wait, what's that? Toons are turning into Pumpkins? There's NO CANDY?! That can only mean one terrible thing... Toontown has been CURSED! I bet I know just the duck, too. It's that fiendish Jack O' Kazam!
Luckily, Jack isn’t the only one with spooky superpowers this time of year. Many of you know, each Halloween I can offer a spooky surprise for all the new cats that are entering Toontown for the first time! Only the most "Toontastic" of Toons earn it, though, so make sure you say the secret phrase when I greet you at the tunnel!
Tomorrow at the stroke of midnight, Toontown will transform back to being colorful and Toony. Make sure you enjoy the decorations Trick or Treating while you can!
I’m off to work on a solution to get Toons’ heads back, and to have a stern word with Jack O’ Kazam about how rude it is to spread a curse around Toontown. With all the Cogs to worry about, we sure don’t need a Toon causing havoc too!
Happy Halloween, Toontown!

Have YOU Met a Cast Member? | Backstage Toontown

Posted by The Toontown Team on November 9, 2018 at 2:00 PM

Say, have you met a Cast Member yet? Wait, do you even know what a Cast Member is?! Oh, who am I? Boy, you sure ask a lot of questions. I'm here to answer them in our latest Backstage Column, where we take a look at what's going on behind the scenes of Toontown Rewritten.
I’m Quentin, and you might’ve seen my Toon "Quackosaurus" running around Toontown. I'm a Community Coordinator for Toontown Rewritten, and I'm super excited today to tell you all about some of the ways we're changing the way we communicate with Toons just like YOU!
18-11-9 backstagewiththecast.jpg
This post may seem like old news for some of you who have met Cast Members before, but we've made some changes to the way we use these Toons that we think will bring some brand new experiences to Toontown for the more social players.
Bridging Staff and Players
A little while ago, we talked about something we're extremely passionate about: Supporting the Toontown Community. Since then, we’ve worked hard to review and revamp the approach we take to community engagement. After all, all of us here on the Toontown Rewritten Team are passionate Toontown players just like you!
One area we saw room for improvement in is the bridge between the team and our players. In the past, members of the team haven’t had too many appearances in the game, and we recognize that there’s potential for people to think that we’re just not there. We also understand that lots of you out there want to meet up and spend time with us in the game. Well, we did too!
Luckily enough for both you and I though, all that has now changed. I would like to formally introduce Cast Members, Cast Member Minigames, and Staff Toons!
Casting the Cast Members
Cast toontrooper.png
So, what is a Cast Member anyway? We use the term "Cast Member" as a homage to Disney, who uses the same term to describe the staff members in their parks who are in charge of creating a pleasant and entertaining experience for their guests. Likewise, that's our job for you!
Cast Members are what we collectively call Toon Troopers and Resistance Rangers, who you may have seen mentioned on the Toontown Blog in the past. These are characters fully immersed in the world of Toontown and will give you an interactive roleplaying experience in the game.
Toon Troopers Icon trooper.png have a yellow whistle icon above their head and work on the Toon Council, meaning they work for our old pal Flippy! Troopers are tasked with keeping Toontown in tip-top shape, whether it be building new areas or helping Postmaster Pete deliver mail.
Resistance Rangers Icon ranger.png are identified through their green fist icon. These brave Toons work for the Toon Resistance, under the direction of Lord Lowden Clear, and help lead the fight against the Cogs! There’s no challenge too big or too difficult for our Resistance Rangers. Apparently, helping them in the fight against the Cogs could land you with a Toontastic Cog Crusher Outfit of your own.
Mingle with Minigames
Cast toontag.png
While focusing on strengthening the fun of meeting a Cast Member, we threw around a whole bunch of ideas. Rather than just standing around talking, we wanted meeting a Cast Member to be a unique experience that you can't get anywhere else in Toontown!
As a result, we recently added our first ever Cast Member Minigame! Some of you may have already gotten a chance to play it.
If you find a Toon Trooper around town, you may just find yourself in a game of “Toon Tag” in the playground. This is just our initial test of Cast Member Minigames, so we want to hear from YOU: What other ways can we add more fun when meeting Cast Members? Let us know in the comments!
The Difference of Cast and Staff
Cast staffmember.png
Maybe roleplaying with an interactive Cast Member isn't your thing. That's okay! These Toons are just one way we're hoping to draw closer with the community of Toontown.
In addition to our in-character Cast Member Toons, you might also find Staff Toons Icon staff.png running around Toontown. These are the main Toons of our Team Members, who can be identified with a blue icon above their head, as well as their Toon ID displaying as "STAFF MEMBER."
These are just normal Toontown Team Members playing the game who would be happy to answer questions, take suggestions, and talk to you about what's going on with the Toontown Team in a more personal way.

Well, that was quite the long backstage post wasn’t it? I could go on for much longer, but instead I think it's better for you to go meet a Cast Member for yourself. In fact, there will be Toon Troopers running around all weekend!
Anyway, thanks for reading, and I hope I’ve been able to give you a little bit more insight into our community engagement efforts. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled when you’re running around the town, as I hear you’ll be seeing Cast and Staff members much more frequently, and not just at special events.
See you around, Toontown!

Who Invited Skelecogs to Supper?

Posted by Toon HQ on November 21, 2018 at 7:00 PM

ATTENTION ALL TOONS: There is a MEGA-Invasion in progress!
Skelecogs are taking over Toontown!!!

Resistance Ranger Skip fights a Cashbot Skelecog across from Toon HQ.

It may almost be time for Thanksgiving, but don’t go filling up your stomachs just yet! The Cogs have turned up their manufacturing lines to 11, and are sending out massive waves of Skelecogs! When running at maximum capacity, the Cog factories don’t have time to make the suits. Throw your home-cooked meals in the oven if you must, but it’s time to get out to the streets and fight back against the Cog threat!
You won’t be out there alone, though. Our highly trained Resistance Rangers will be on the case, dealing out major silliness against the incoming Skelecogs. If you prove yourself to be a valuable asset to the Toon Resistance, they might even give you a Toon Resistance uniform! If you run into a Resistance Ranger, show them how much you enjoy busting those Cogs.
There’s no time to waste. Put down your forks and pick up your pies for battle! Our HQ Officers predict that the invasion will last until 9:00 AM Toontown Time (PST) on November 23rd.
Best of luck out there, Toons!

Tracing Thanksgiving Turkeys

Posted by Sir Max on November 22, 2018 at 3:00 PM

Happy Thanksgiving, Toontown! If you're like me, the best part of Thanksgiving has got to be the life sized meal at the end of the challenge. What's the challenge, you might ask? Spending time with the family, of course! Have you ever heard Shockley go on about the tiniest details of Raspberry Pies? It's too much to bear!

Sir Max paints Thanksgiving Turkeys on the window of Toon Hall.

Luckily, I managed to get away from the hustle and bustle of Thanksgiving. I got to talking with Mustavo about the policies of the Toon Council towards journalists such as myself, and he enjoyed the conversation so much that he gave me a challenge: paint the best turkey known to Toon-kind. As he walked away, he looked very satisfied with himself, although I don't quite know why.
Although I do pride myself on my amazing sign making skills, I have no idea what I'm doing. For hours, I locked myself in Toon Hall, waiting for inspiration to strike. Three hours, only Sir Max, a canvas, and a couple of Scientoons working on some doohickey behind me. I wonder what that's about? I think I've got an idea how to make this piece work.
It's been two more hours, and my canvas is blank. I begun to study the back of my glove, memorizing the smooth cloth's texture. It was at that moment that inspiration struck! I quickly got my paint supplies out of the storage closet and began painting the window. That'll show ol' Mustavo!
Doctor Surlee was not happy with what I had done. With a shove, I was thrown out of Toon Hall to find a search party looking for me. I think I'm supposed to learn a valuable lesson from this experience, but I'm still trying to figure out what that is.
…What? You want me to what? Sounds good enough to me.
On this Thanksgiving, I learned a valuable lesson. Don't trust what Mustavo says. Also, I suppose that if I had just been thankful for my Toontown family, I would have had a far more fun Thanksgiving. That's the important part here, right?
Note from The TTR Team: As you go through your day today, take some time to remember how thankful we are to have Toontown. By the hard work and generosity of Toontown's developers throughout the years, and most importantly the founders over at Disney, we've been able to experience this wonderful game for over 15 years. We're thankful for YOU, and we wanted to show it! Toons of the world, UNITE!

Bring on the Black Friday Sales

Posted by Sir Max on November 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM

...zzz...ZZZ...zzz... Ah, good morning! Gosh, that was a nice long nap. I always sleep well after I've eaten - and yesterday sure was a fully filled feast. Now that the family have gone there's no time to waste. It's time to secure some super sweet seasonal goodies in today's Black Friday deals!
18-11-23 hehasntheard.jpg
Hmm… My mailbox is empty. My phone is eerily quiet. Where’s my Black Friday Cattlelog? Quick, get me Postmaster Pete on the phone!
Pete! Where are you? Do you know what day it is? I need to get this year’s Secret SanToon gift for the Toon Council, pronto!
Apparently, Pete is scheduled to deliver my Black Friday Cattlelog later today. I know, that guy needs to work on his timekeeping. If Pete is late delivering yours too, don't worry. He assures me that every Toon in Toontown will be given their special Cattlelog in their next issue, delivered one week after your last. Make sure to cash-in on these juicy jellybean saving deals by December 3rd!
Happy Spending!

Introducing the Options Update

Posted by Sir Max on November 29, 2018 at 4:00 PM

They said it could never be done. They told us it wasn't important. They claimed that such measures would destroy the Tooniverse as we know it! I don't know who "they" are, but today, we're proving Mr. Whoever-They-Are wrong. We're taking a step where no Toon has ever stepped before: W.
Not only W, but also A, S, and D! In fact, let's go for ANY key on your keyboard! Today, we abandon the direction of the Arrow Keys and tell Control that it can't control us any longer. We'll delete the Delete key and throw pies the way we want to throw them. TODAY, dear Toons, we finally have OPTIONS!
Play Your Way
You begged us, pleaded us, and even sent some rather convincing threats. The Options Update introduces the most widely requested feature throughout Toontown's entire lifetime: Control Customization. Using a new Options Panel created specially for your customizing creativity, you can now set any action in Toontown to any key that you want.
Look, I know what you're thinking: "What an innovative feature! How has no one else thought of such astounding functionality? This is bleeding-edge technology!"
Buckle up, you fine observer of modernization, because we're just getting started.
Access Options Anywhere

An Optional Remote

We're betting you're pretty excited at this point. "How can I get to this fabled Options Menu?" It's quite simple! Almost anywhere in game, this shiny new remote will sit in the lower right-hand corner of your game window. If your Shticker Book is available, it likes to hide out of sight as to not bother you while you're playing. Just hover over the Shticker Book to make it stop hiding!
You can also hit SHIFT+ESC (by default) to bring up the Options Menu at anytime, or change that key combo to something else to spice up your Options Menu experience. Snazzy!
Modernizing Movement
You might notice how smooth running around feels after entering Toontown. You didn't slip on a stick of butter -- it's a new feature! We've overhauled Toon movement to visually appear more natural, as well as feel more natural to control with the Toon gradually speeding up and slowing down. It's subtle, but it's just a small step we're taking to modernize Toontown!
Of course, if you like the classic look of Toontown, you can turn off the animation blending setting in your new-fangled Options Menu.
The Anti-Exercise Key
Ever since moving into Toontown, I've ran everywhere as fast as I can. I didn't even have a choice, my feet just kept running and running unless I was going backwards! With this new update comes a key I call the "Anti-Exercise" key, but the Toon Council says I have to call it the "Walk" key. Starting today, Toons can go on a slow stroll by walking with the SHIFT key by default.
Can you use this new walking ability for an amazing new gameplay experience? Well... No. But you guys still requested it for some reason, so someone out there must be pretty pumped right now!
The Options Are Endless
Well, they're not really. But it still sounded like a pretty catchy headline, right? What I'm trying to say is: This update is so much more than just some new controls and a campaign against exercising! We've changed a whole lot behind the scenes to work towards making Toontown a much more modern game, and we'll be continuing to make changes in the future to keep up with the times and give Toontown the longest life it can have.
You can check out the release notes below for a full list of changes, which several long-standing bugs that have finally been squashed. Let us know what you think of The Options Update, and keep your eyes peeled for the other exciting things we've been working on.

Toontown's Twelve Days of Winter Have Arrived!

Posted by Sir Max on December 15, 2018 at 2:00 PM

On the first day of winter, Toontown gives to you:
A holiday packed with very merry news!

Sir Max sits by a holiday yule log. Happy Winter Holiday!

Season's Greetings, Toons! It's that time of year where we stock our cabinets full of hot cocoa, warm up by the fire, and start looking for a new home if you're one of the unlucky residents of The Brrrgh this time of year. You'd think that this occasion would cause Toons to start wearing pants instead of shorts, but I digress...
To tell you about this year's event, I've taken up a cozy spot next to this here yule log for Sir Max's Holiday Special! Gather round, dear Toons, as I tell you the tale of Toontown's Twelve Days of Winter. This annual event counts down to Christmas with holiday activities every day, followed by a grand finale to wrap things up on December 26th!
What's today's gift, you ask? It's my holiday special, of course! Who wouldn't want to sit back and just stare at the fire for hours upon hours? You would do that, right?
Okay, you got me. Sticky Lou helped put this set together, so I'm permanently frozen in this chair until someone figures out how to get me unstuck. But since you're here, I figured you could stick around... Hey, where are you going? Come back!
Well, it looks like I'm stuck in this seat for the next eight hours. Check back tomorrow for the first day of holiday fun!

How Sir Max Didn't Steal Christmas

Posted by Hawkheart on December 16, 2018 at 2:00 PM

On the second day of winter, Toontown gives to you:
Festive decorations,
And a holiday packed with very merry news!

Hawkheart peers at a tied up Sir Max. Don't Be a Grinch!

Happy Winter Holiday, Toontown! Hawkheart here, one of Toontown's tip-top Toon Troopers. You may not know this, but I've been Toontown's number one Christmas decorator for two years in a row! I've caught on to the antics of Sir Max this time, and I'll tell you all about it in true Christmas fashion: A story that rhymes!

It was twelve o' clock midnight, on a cold winter's night. The tree was primed with decorations a'plenty, but my searches for Sir Max came up empty. He could never hold back for this long, I've known him for years! Perhaps there was fault in my greatest fears.
I've been waiting too long, it's been too many hours. If I just wait a bit longer, maybe I can... Stop...rhyming...and sleep...
. . . ZZZ . . .

HUH? Who goes there?
Struggling to open my eyes I found quite the sight, but seeing the result left me with delight! Sir Max stumbling out of his tree to and fro, covered in wires from his head to his toe! He predicted my plan, with one grave mistake: If you're going to hide in a tree, prepare to ache!
Leaving Max in a bind, I grabbed all the decorations I could find! At last, Toontown will be decorated in holiday lights! Though, I shouldn't leave Sir Max tied up for so many nights. With a twist and a shout, Sir Max finally got out.
He brought me back to his home, where I sat down with a "Phew." Wait, why is this chair all covered in glue?

Enjoy the holiday lights, Toontown!

O Little Town of The Brrrgh

Posted by Professor Flake on December 17, 2018 at 3:00 PM

On the third day of winter, Toontown gives to you:
Snowy winter melodies,
Festive decorations,
And a holiday packed with very merry news!

Professor Flake and a Toon slipping on ice. There's SNOW place like The Brrrgh!

Hello! This is Professor Flake from Precipitation Foundation, a branch laboratory of Loony Labs that I run in The Brrrgh. Me and my fellow Junior Research Scientists -- at least, the ones I can keep around long enough before they run off to fight the C.J. -- have been studying The Brrrgh's weather patterns for years. Well, if you can even call them weather patterns...
The Brrrgh's great blizzard all started way back in the day when Doctor Surlee fired up his Super Duper Air Conditioner. Next thing you know, it went haywire and covered the whole playground with snow! We've been digging for it ever since, and it looks like we're about to get a whole bunch of new helpers, because it's snowing EVERYWHERE in Toontown!
I can't quite explain it, but it seems that the cold weather has caused the machine to crank into overdrive. It's throwing out enough snow to make the North Pole look like a tropical island! That's not even the weirdest part. Here, listen closely. Don't you hear it?
I thought I was going bananas when I heard it last year, but it seems that the snow has altered Toontown's melodies to play special holiday music when roaming the playgrounds! The greatest scientific feat of all seems to be that the Brrrgh's wintery music somehow sounds even more wintery. How is it possible?!
This will require more research. And bananas. I must be off! Enjoy any warmth you can while it lasts -- because something tells me this snow is sticking around for a while. There will be no question about whether Toontown is naughty or "ice!"

Deck the Halls With Bottles of Seltzer

Posted by Snowman on December 18, 2018 at 2:15 PM

On the fourth day of winter, Toontown gives to you:
Christmas caroling Snowtoons,
Snowy winter melodies,
Festive decorations,
And a holiday packed with very merry news!

Snowman, Snowball, Snowangel, Snowshoe, Snowcat, and Snowflake standing merrily in Toontown Central. Season's Greetings from the Snowtoons!

Hey there, warm fellas! I may just be a snowman -- well, Snowtoon -- but visiting this merry little town fills me with such warmth and holiday spirit. The frozen weather is back, and so am I, just like the song says! If that isn't enough to give you chills, wait until I tell you that I've brought my friends Snowball, Snowangel, Snowshoe, Snowcat, and Snowflake back too! Oh, I just did tell you... Phooey.
We were greeted by a few Toons splashing around seltzer, but wouldn't ya know it, the water turned to ice right before my own coal eyes! It seems these Toons get sillier by the year, and I'm sure we'll feel the effects of all this seltzer silliness soon enough. Aw, icicles! I'm rambling again, aren't I? Perhaps I should just get back to doing what I do best: Winter Caroling!
You guessed it, my frozen friends and I have returned to help you sing your Toontastic hearts out. Bring an empty ToonTask slot, your Christmas joy, and grab my limited-time ToonTask in Toontown Central to embark on a Winter Caroling hunt and make this merry town even merrier! If you complete the task, there may even be a frosty reward waiting for you. (No, not from Wendy's!)
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and come find me! While you're at it, have a Happy Ho-Ho-Holiday!

Note from the Toontown Team: There is currently a bug that causes the Snowtoon ToonTask to say "expired" when selecting it. We're pushing out a fix as soon as possible!

Prepare for a Blue, Blue Winter

Posted by Lil Oldman on December 19, 2018 at 2:00 PM

On the fifth day of winter, Toontown gives to you:
(bum bum bum...)
Christmas caroling Snowtoons,
Snowy winter melodies,
Festive decorations,
And a holiday packed with very merry news!

Cold Callers stand outside of The Blizzard Wizard. "We hope that you buy a lot of presents."

Ah, winter. The time of year when not just The Brrrgh turns into a frozen ice rink. Snow is falling all over Toontown, and Toons are wrapping up warm with scarfs and winter boots before heading out into the blizzard. Me? I own the Blizzard Wizard. I am winter. But there appears to be another trying to seize this time of year from my domain -- Cold Callers.
With the cold setting in, most Toons like to be tucked up around a roaring fire, sipping cocoa, preparing for the big day. It's the perfect opportunity for these cold metal menaces to knock on your door trying to sell you goodness knows what! They won't not take no for an answer, either, as they appear to have an extra layer of protection against our gags. This is no normal invasion, this is a V2.0 Mega-Invasion.
I, for one, will not fall for their smooth-talking salesmanship. I've already bought my toads their Christmas, which means it's time for battle. Lord Lowden Clear has dispatched his Resistance Rangers onto the streets of Toontown to keep these blue-faced blights at bay. As my apprentices of past and present, I know that you are all up for the job. We shall not let these nuisance Cogs ruin my season!
I expect this latest sales campaign to wrap up on December 21st at precisely 2:00 PM Toontown Time (PST). Until then, get out there and stop them! After this latest invasion, I can only imagine how many Cog buildings there will be to recover. Pop by the Blizzard Wizard if you fancy helping me defeat a few... And don't forget the lumpy cheese!

Lovely Weather for a Winter Vacation With You

Posted by Paula Behr on December 20, 2018 at 3:00 PM

On the sixth day of winter, Toontown gives to you:
White winter wonderlands,
(bum bum bum...)
Christmas caroling Snowtoons,
Snowy winter melodies,
Festive decorations,
And a holiday packed with very merry news!

Paula Behr in a wintery Acorn Acres. Enjoy a Winter Vacation!

Howdy, Toons! It's around this time things that start really picking up here at Hibernation Vacations. After all, there's been many more Polar Bears looking for a good place to hibernate ever since Doctor Surlee started carrying on the tradition that Slappy started! The Caribbean is a popular choice, but if you ask me, there's too many pirates around there for my liking.
Yessiree, I love the snow. Lucky for me, it snows all year round here in The Brrrgh! If you're like me and love to romp around in the snow instead of laying on a beach towel, I've got some good news for you: It's shaping up to be a white Christmas in Toontown, with all Playgrounds covered in a frosty blanket of snow! It's only a matter of time until there's enough for a good ol' fashioned snowball fight.
Anyhoo, be sure to drop by my shop and say "Howdy!" if you're in the neighborhood. I'll give you a big ol' bear hug and make you feel at home!

Play in Holly's Reindeer Games!

Posted by Holly Daze on December 21, 2018 at 2:30 PM

On the seventh day of winter, Toontown gives to you:
Red-nosed reindeer Toons,
White winter wonderlands,
(bum bum bum...)
Christmas caroling Snowtoons,
Snowy winter melodies,
Festive decorations,
And a holiday packed with very merry news!

Holly Daze plays some reindeer games in The Brrrgh. Have a Holly Trolley Christmas!

Happy Holidays, Toons! The most famous reindeer of all is back in town... That's right, it's me, Holly Daze! Who else would you be expecting?
It sure has been a busy year. SantaToon has been working tirelessly all year round to ensure each Toon gets their Christmas gifts on time -- as long as you're not on the naughty list! It's my job to help him on his festive journey around Toontown to deliver everyone's gifts.
Once again I find myself in a pickle. It's starting to become a yearly tradition! You see, we've had a lot of Toons move into Toontown this year, and there's far too many presents for me to deliver all by myself. I tried to get a head start on the task by starting my round a little earlier this year. If you feel inspired by the season of giving, come by The Brrrgh for a limited-time ToonTask and lending me your help. You might just earn yourself a gift before Christmas!
I have an extra special something for my fellow Deer Toons, too. If you really want to stand out at the Toontown Christmas party this year, what could be better than swapping your plain old regular nose for a bright, shiny, red nose? I can assure you, it's very much the fashion back at SantaToon's workshop.
I hope to see you very soon - these presents won't deliver themselves!

Must Be SantaToon

Posted by Flippy on December 22, 2018 at 3:30 PM

On the eighth day of winter, Toontown gives to you:
Wonderful wintry wardrobes,
Red-nosed reindeer Toons,
White winter wonderlands,
(bum bum bum...)
Christmas caroling Snowtoons,
Snowy winter melodies,
Festive decorations,
And a holiday packed with very merry news!

Flippy in a SantaToon outfit on the Trolley. Flippy is Coming to Town!

Helloooooooo, Toons of the world! Guess who? No, not SantaToon. It's me, Flippy! Boy, it sure has been a while since we last spoke, I think as far back as our haunting Halloween antics. The Toon Council is keeping me very busy, so I rarely get the chance to leave my desk at Toon Hall.
With all this snow about, though, I thought I'd take a nice stroll through Toontown Central. Let me tell you, that snowstorm makes it way too cold for my paws to walk the streets. So, naturally, there was only one other way to make an appearance: in style. I may not have a sleigh, but I have the Trolley! It even has its own little bell in place of sleigh bells, what more could I wish for?
I may not be SantaToon, but I still come bearing gifts! No, no, they're not Gold, Frankincense or Myrrh, they're better. From now until 11:59 PM on December 30th, head to your Shticker Books and enter the code “coming-to-town” for a Santa outfit, or “on-the-shelf” for an elf outfit to fill your wardrobes, stockings, and sleighs with cheerful Christmas costumes!
Merry Christmas, Toontown!

Battling Through the Snow

Posted by Lord Lowden Clear on December 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM

On the ninth day of winter, Toontown gives to you:
Twice your battle experience,
Wonderful wintry wardrobes,
Red-nosed reindeer Toons,
White winter wonderlands,
(bum bum bum...)
Christmas caroling Snowtoons,
winter melodies,
a holiday packed with very merry news!

Lord Lowden Clear in Donald's Dreamland. Enjoy Your Christmas Bonus!

Toons of the world... Focus! Whilst it's great to see Toons enjoying the winter flurry of surprises, gifts, and excitement -- it is often easy to overlook the very challenging task we all have: To stop these robot rascals taking over Toontown!
We recently fought off a tough Cold Caller Mega-Invasion, and I'm very proud of all who participated. The Toon Resistance has received word that the Cogs are regrouping, however, and won't be getting any time off this winter. To ensure each Toon continues with their duty to protect our town from the Cogs, I've persuaded Toon HQ to award you all Double Gag Experience from now until 11:59 PM Toontown Time (PST) on Christmas Day!
Enjoy this gift from me to you, and enjoy your Winter Holiday. Until next time, keep them busting -- with laughter!
Lord Lowden Clear
Leader of the Toon Resistance

Christmastime is... Already Here?!

Posted by Doctor Surlee on December 24, 2018 at 3:30 PM

On the tenth day of winter, Toontown gives to you:
A letter from Doctor Surlee,
Twice your battle experience,
Wonderful wintry wardrobes,
Red-nosed reindeer Toons,
White winter wonderlands,
(bum bum bum...)
Christmas caroling Snowtoons,
Snowy winter melodies,
Festive decorations,
And a holiday packed with very merry news!

Doctor Surlee with his letter to the Toon Council "Deliver Your Letters By Hand! (Mailboxes Can't Be Trusted)"

Deliver To:
Flippy's Office
Toon Hall
Toontown Central, Toontown

Dear Toons of the Toon Council,
Before anything, I'd like to remind you of my petition to remove mailboxes from Toontown. I've told you time and time again that you simply cannot trust them.
More importantly, however, I must start with an apology of the greatest magnitude. It appears that in tinkering with the Silly Meter, a Silly Surge activated my stopwatch which briefly flung me into the future! I only knew something was up after seeing that everyone had already gone home from the lab -- the only time I'm ever so alone in here each year is Christmas Eve.
Everything's fixed now, but the date is December 24th, which means it's time for my annual visit to Toontorial Street. Unfortunately, I don't have everything in place due to losing the time to prepare. It's possible, however, that my accidental time travel is no random coincidence!
Now, it may just be that my time-travelling expedition has messed with my memory, but I think I recall you mentioning some special competition that'll be starting on January 1st. What was it? Top Toons? No, that wasn't it, there was something new. Oh, I can't for the life of me remember!
Regardless, I'm going to trust my memory and hold our annual Polar Bear extravaganza on January 1st and 2nd. After all, I have a feeling that those Polar Bears will be grateful for the extension once they hear what the competition is. I apologize for the inconvenience... but then again, science is the one who should be apologizing!
Make sure to say "Merry Christmas Eve" to all of the other Toons for me, and that I'll see them bright and early on January 1st. They're going to be incredibly excited once they hear your plans.
Doctor Surlee

Have a Totally Toontastic Christmas!

Posted by S'more on December 25, 2018 at 3:30 PM

On the eleventh day of winter, Toontown gives to you:
A totally Toontastic Christmas,
A letter from Doctor Surlee,
Twice your battle experience,
Wonderful wintry wardrobes,
Red-nosed reindeer Toons,
White winter wonderlands,
(bum bum bum...)
Christmas caroling Snowtoons,
Snowy winter melodies,
Festive decorations,
And a holiday packed with very merry news!

S'more sits on a pile of presents. Merry Christmas from Toontown!

Toons of the world, Merry Chris-- You know what, the Troopers warned me that's something only Flippy can say. I thought I'd give it a try, but it just doesn't feel right. Wondering where Flippy is? Honestly, so are the rest of the Toon Troopers! Our guess is that after delivering all of those presents on the Trolley, he retired to bed for a long winter's nap.
I'm here in Flippy's place to bring you good tidings from all us here at Toon Hall. From the Toon Troopers to the Toon Council, each one of us would like to thank you for all of the Cog-busting and Toontastic cheer you've spread this year. It's because of you that Toontown is merry and bright!
Talking about things being bright, what do you think of my brand spanking new red nose? I was helping out one of my old reindeer friends, Holly Daze. Almost like magic, my nose turned as red as the sweet cherry pies I bake every Sunday. Enough about me though, we're here to talk about you!
Toontown is what it is today because of the Toons who inhabit it, and the point of this entire Twelve Days of Winter extravaganza is to thank you. All of the gifts we've given is our way of saying "You are TOON ENOUGH!" for sticking around with us, and we still have one more day to celebrate tomorrow.
Wherever you may be in Toontown, from Toontown Central, to Donald's Dock, to Acorn Acres, to Daisy Gardens, to Minnie's Melodyland, to Donald's Dream-- GASP! Owooo, I'm sorry, I just can't stop talking sometimes...
What I'm trying to say is, on behalf of everyone on the Toon Council, we'd like to wish you a very Merry Christmas from Toontown!

Have Yourself a Great Snowball Fight!

Posted by Flippy on December 26, 2018 at 3:30 PM

On the twelfth day of winter, Toontown gives to you:
The Great Snowball Fight,
A totally Toontastic Christmas,
A letter from Doctor Surlee,
Twice your battle experience,
Wonderful wintry wardrobes,
Red-nosed reindeer Toons,
White winter wonderlands,
(bum bum bum...)
Christmas caroling Snowtoons,
Snowy winter melodies,
Festive decorations,
And a holiday packed with very merry news!

Flippy has awoken from deep slumber to say Keep your winter cheer all year!

zzz...ZZZ...zzz... OOF! What was that?! Ouch, why is it so cold? Oh my, it's a snowball! CRASH! And another! What gives? Oh my... Fluffy, it's December 26th - Toontown's annual Snowball throwing competition! How did I sleep for so long? The last thing I remember before lying down is delivering Shockley's gift!
I must have slept right through Christmas Day! No wonder I'm so hungry. If I remember correctly, each year the storm appears to gain speed and quickly amounts to a blizzard. In memory of our lost President, Slappy Quackintosh, the snowball fight must continue!
Quick, let's get out there to the battle! I've already lost too much time while sleeping. If you're lucky, you may even see me outside taking on Toons one-on-one! Whether I hit you with a snowball this year or not, I hope that you've enjoyed these Twelve Days of Winter. You can keep on enjoying the activities until 11:59PM on January 2nd!

Introducing the Winter Laff-o-Lympics

Posted by Franz Neckvein on December 28, 2018 at 3:30 PM

Shape up, Toons! Ze Winter Holidays may be winding down, but ze Cogs don’t stop their business, ja? Let me see those muscles! How far can you throw a Wedding Cake in a pinch? Not far with that flimsy forearm! Your arms, zey are like teensy tiny rubber hoses! If I could, I vould give all of you my ten-week training course in Big Weight lifting, but zere’s no time for zat. Ze new Winter Laff-o-Lympics begin on January 1st!

Franz Neckvein stands with previous winners of the Laff-o-Lympics.

Toons in Toontown are getting too weak for zere’ own good! "Give me ze governmental position, Flippy!", I pleaded. But zere were no seats left for Franz Neckvein. Instead, zey assigned me as coach for an event back by popular demand: Ze Laff-o-Lympics! If I can’t get zese Toons into shape myself, zey vill do it themselves!
But zat’s not all! Zese Laff-o-Lympics vill be… a teensy bit different. Zis time, there will be an extra Team Competition! Zat’s right, we’ve split all new Toons into two teams, battling it out for which one can earn ze most Laff point rewards.
Vat? You do not understand my vey of speaking? Your ears are as vimpy as your arms! Just read zis pamphlet from ze Toon Council. I'll be back.

How to Participate
The Laff-o-Lympics have taken a completely new form! Here's the rundown of how to participate, with a few changes from the original event. These changes will also take effect for future Laff-o-Lympics:
• Each Laff-o-Lympics from this point on will have its own theme! This event's theme is The Winter Laff-o-Lympics.
• The event will officially begin on December 31st at 9:00 PM Toontown Time (PST), and end on February 1st at 11:59 PM Toontown Time.
ALL Toons created prior to the event may participate, providing they are either 15 or 16 laff. Any Toon starting with more than 16 laff will not be considered eligible.
• Toons will earn rewards for themselves by reaching Bronze, Silver, or Gold status based on the amount of Laff Points earned before the event ends (requirements listed below).
• In addition to individual rewards -- Toons will also join a team based on the species they choose. The team with the most Laff Points earned will receive a huge reward for all participants above 50 Laff Points!

Earning Rewards
Every Toon who reaches the Bronze, Silver, or Gold milestone regardless of their team will receive the rewards listed below.
Bronze (50 Laff) - Receive a bronze medal shirt and 3000 jellybeans!
Silver (100 Laff) - Receive a silver medal shirt and an exclusive SpeedChat phrase to show your glory!
Gold (115 Laff) - Receive a gold medal shirt and an exclusive Toon Nametag style!
Each milestone will receive the previous milestone's rewards in addition to the listed prizes. The medal shirt rewards are not the same as the gold medal shirt given during previous Top Toons contests or the original Laff-o-Lympics.

Joining a Team
Here are the two competing teams for the Winter Laff-o-Lympics. To join a team, just create a Toon with the species listed for your favorite team after December 31st at 9:00 PM Toontown Time (PST).
Featuring Cat, Crocodile, Deer, Monkey, and Mouse! Making a new Toon as any of these species will automatically join Team Hot Cocoa.
Featuring Bear, Dog, Duck, Rabbit, Pig, and Horse! Making a new Toon as any of these species will automatically join Team Milk & Cookies.
In addition to the individual prizes, the team who has the most total Laff Points earned will get a bonus prize! To be eligible for the bonus prize, you must have at least 50 Laff Points before the competition ends. The bonus prize contains:
• 5000 Jellybeans
• 1000 Racing Tickets
• One Gag-Up All Unite
• One Max Toon-Up Unite
• Two 600 Bean Unites

I'm back! You like the rewards, ja? Zese medals aren’t just any old medals, my Toony friends! Zey shine, zey sparkle, zey are positively winter themed! Best of all, zey won’t be available anywhere else.
Ze event begins on December 31st at 9:00 PM Toontown Time. Go bust ze Cogs, complete your ToonTasks, and WIN! Together, ve will be stronger zan ever before!

Celebrate New Year with Fireworks and Fiery Competition!

Posted by Flippy on December 31, 2018 at 6:00 PM

Happy New Year's Eve, Toontown! In just a few hours we'll be kick-starting our annual spectacle of fireworks to see the New Year in. I've got a particularly good feeling for our celebrations this year, because it's almost time for the Winter Laff-o-Lympics to begin!

Flippy celebrates the New Year and Winter Laff-o-Lympics with new Toon colors!

I had a meeting with Franz Neckvein in Toon Hall earlier today, where he laid out the whole event for me from start to finish! It sure sounds like a feisty competition to me, and let me tell you, the last time I was this excited for a competition was when they announced the last Toon Council Presidential Election! Boy, I wish Slappy was here to see all of this.
When looking through Franz's giaaaaaant Laff-o-Lympics folder I found some delightful drawings I thought I really must share with you. May I introduce the official Team Hot Cocoa and Team Milk & Cookies emblems!

But that's not all, folks! In light of the friendly competition, I have given permission for two new Toon colors to be added to the already fantastic choices over at Make-a-Toon. Please welcome Bubblegum and Beige to the list of official Toon colors!
There's just one more thing Franz mentioned that you'll definitely want to hear. We're changing the way in which Toons are to be considered eligible to participate in the Laff-o-Lympics! Previously, Franz announced that in order to participate, you would be required to make a new Toon after the event had started. No more!
That's right, everyone: Any Toon who is at 15 or 16 Laff when the event starts will officially be considered eligible, even if they were made years ago! The original post has also been updated to include this rule change so that there's no confusion.
On behalf of the Toon Council, I'd like to wish you a Happy New Year! I look forward to seeing all of the new Toons participating in the Laff-o-Lympics on Tutorial Terrace.
