A Black Cat is a special type of cat, similar to Polar Bears. They are simply cats with a unique black color, that cannot be created traditionally via the Create-A-Toon. This special color can only be obtained during Halloween by interacting with Flippy.
Creating a Black Cat
To create a black cat, it must be Halloween. It can be any color, but it must have only one solid color. Go to Toontown Central, find Flippy inside Toon Hall and then use SpeedChat to say "Toontastic!" to him. Smoke will cover the cat and it will become black. This transformation is permanent, but Toons can still complete Just for Fun! ToonTasks for other Toon effects. There was a rumor that a cat can be made black on Friday the 13th but that was just a promotional day. (Note: Saying "Toontastic!" to Flippy on Welcome Valley district is the only district that will not trigger the black cat transformation.)

- Black cats were first released on October 31, 2013.
- Flippy is the only NPC who usually gives out the black cat transformation.
- As part of Flippy's campaign for the Toon Council Presidential Elections (during Alpha), he turned regular cats into black cats by throwing black paint at them. You had to find Flippy in the Toontown Central playground standing next to Toon Hall and say "Toontastic!".
- Cats are the only Toon species that can be black.
- Cats are one of two Toon species that can be a special color, without the use of effects. The other species is the bear, which can become a polar bear.
- The creation of black cats on Halloween refers to how black cats are symbols of Halloween and bad luck.
- In Toontown Online, to create a black cat, you had to say the SpeedChat phrase "Toontastic!" to Flippy in the Toon-torial on Halloween. In Toontown Rewritten, using SpeedChat to say "Toontastic" to Flippy in the Toon-torial does nothing, no matter what the date.
